Been getting into beserk which is making me want to get into this but I’ve never played a souls game

Would I get destroyed picking this up? And how’s the leveling? Can you get strong pretty fast? Or is it a slow burn?

I don't think the leveling is slow at all, you just have to be able to get through the bosses

Definitely gonna be punishing as a new player but its super worth it, especially if you like Berserk.

Even though Elden Ring is amazing, I would recommend picking up DS3 first, it's on sale all the time if you're on PC. The Berserk influence is there in Elden Ring but the Dark Souls games are full of references and really show the Berserk influence. You're gonna die a ton no matter what game you start on (that's just part of it) but in Elden Ring there's a pretty big difficulty spike in the end game that even veteran players struggled with and I'd imagine that would be off putting for new players. Also, I think the linearity of the Dark Souls games is better at conditioning the player to understand what the games are asking of you.

honestly it wasn’t that hard and I only played a bit of the demon souls remake before i played elden ring, I wouldn’t consider myself great at games either

it’s as hard as you want it to be, you can be safe and explore/level up a bunch before facing hard bosses or you can keep trying at a low level if you like the challenge. there’s even optional summons that support you in battle.
