it's also essentially the first game

they added and refinded mechanics, dabbled in new aesthetics and settings, expanded on other s***

bloodborne still lowkey the only games that's real close to demon's souls but in a different universe and aesthetic

How do you think BB and Demons Souls are close?

Do you guys think they should just focus on maybe open world type games now, cause I would still appreciate the smaller tightly crafted games too

I think an open world with more tight areas

Like mountain of the giants, s*** was open but it felt very crafted like i was in the painted world

I think ER as amazing as it is, its a good base to inject theyre traditional level design more into the open world outside of dungeons n separate zones

I think mountaintop of giants is a perfect example of the potential

Im fine with both styles tho

    i don't?

i mean the general theme of DeS/DS is essentially sword and shield fantasy action rpg. BB was the same usual fromsoft design but with cool trick weapons and guns in a gothic victorian HPL universe

obviously i don't mean same as in 1:1 identical

Would like an open world Bloodborne 2 But I don't think all their games should be in this format tbh

Both, like if they were to make a BB sequel I think BB works better if its linear. They have something nice with Elden Ring but if they were to make something like BB open world I think it would hurt the atmosphere and oppressive nature it has going on with it.

think they could do the same thing they did with bloodborne from Demon's souls.

they could take one zone of this map or an idea they've had and make a whole game set in that theme and universe

It s***s on them in terms of density n design, most open worlds are just a way to go A to B

Botw & Witcher 3 are the closes imo where their open world is more than just traversal n occasionally come across something

Fallout 4 n New Vegas are amazing too but different

I never really appreciated just how much they switched things up for BB and how great it all is The gun to parry, bullets fulfilling a lot of functions that a third mana bar did in their other games, the health regain factor encouraging aggressive play. Even when I watch people play Elden Ring, sometimes I wish they'd attack quicker so they can regain health And I haven't played Bloodborne in like over a year now

I see both sides to this tbh

The Bloodborne setting is perfect since its a lot of jumping from side streets to roads to buildings, it has a very claustrophobic feel to it. Making the game open world won’t add anything to it imo

honestly skyrim and fallout were some of my highest rated open worlds in terms of the amount of content in them and how it wasn't necessarily the same handful of s***s copy/pasted

i kinda wish botw was more full of content like that

most open world games kinda sparse and have huge empty space between content. like mountains of giants level is where most games are at, and that's one of the emptiest parts in this game

BB was an amazing way to say "alright this a new playstyle go f*** these mfs up"

sekiro was even more aggressive but the overall gameplay was more action adventure instead of rpg, i guess they wanted to see if they could do a non rpg type thing in a much less fantasy world

I think its pretty small but the verticality and some genius design choices in its layout make a huge difference.

Skyrim n fallout do actually have a lot of copy n pasting in their dungeon designs, its the only real gripe i have with them. There's legit layouts n pathways that are exactly the same, but the atmosphere n exploration is great.

I feel like ER is BOTW mixed with Skyrim with Souls on top. Took the best of all three styles n made a unique n more varied thing.

the whole thing of going from disease ridden victorian streets to HPL cosmic beings and large scale areas that swapped between HPL and gothic were amazing

Really wish more open worlds were designed with vertically in mind because its very clear they don’t apart from the ubisoft towers

With Elden Ring's success, i imagine it'll be hard for From soft to keep this up. They've had a crazy run from Demons souls to now, but I feel like they gonna have another DS2 moment soon.

I'd love to be proven wrong tho
