ElricYeah I mean like when do you level up
it's not as cryptic as Dark Souls but I'm still not sure what's going on. I think I finally managed to save after collecting a decent amount of runes 
at the sites of grace

Most of them arent for show, theyre physical things with stuff minus a few exception. Like i went to a random circle n its a tower that gave me the Hand Ballista weapon.
Went to a black square n its a church with a tear drop.
Little trees n shapes its a village with a spell.
Etc.
So much more is out there.

No I'm killing gargoyles and attempting this watchdog boss. Still have all my base gear havent leveled up once.

Ah ok that's right at the start then. Basically when you run into a camp with knights and s*** is when something will happen.

Beat this one first try tho, it gave me something called the Sacrificial Greataxe

you just sit at a grace and press level up then pick a stat to level. i recommend vigor at first, it raisers health
oh forgot you have to get the horse first. yeah the grace for that is right outside the little camp beside the big castle gates. you’ll see it
