Exactly. For an album they recorded for like 800 hours, it ebbs and flows very naturally.

and yes totally. at the bare minimum it's a studio/recording history milestone. And the production is a masterclass in vocal layering.
Not to mention the performance of michael and the rest of the instrumentalists. there's a lot of greatness in that piece. Even the vincent price thing is fun and kinda goofy

Where do you rank Bad bc I feel like it's a little underrated in the topic which is funny for an album that is so popular
It’s neck and neck with Dangerous for #3
I think Bad is the most dated sounding MJ album (very late 80s sounding), but it’s also an album that’s almost completely all killer no filler.
I prefer the New Jack Swing sound that Teddy Riley helped bring to the table, but I also think Dangerous suffers from a couple tracks that had no business being on there.
Both albums are amazing though
