nah Earl and Frank are easily two of my fav lyricists oat, Earl prolly being my #1 in rap atm too. Don't think it's that much of a reach to say he's a GOAT writer no matter the medium. I can see more and more that you could claim the same about billy woods (Ka I'm honestly not as invested with so far). Whether top 5 or 20 or 100 isn't that much of a productive discussion I think

And also I think it's very easy to overemphasize the epic form over the lyric, and particularly lyric form in music. I'm fully convinced some of the most vital, beautiful and relevant writings of the past 10 years were in lyric form. Real for Pynchon and Kaufman love tho

I don't think quantity matters all that much with poems. IDLS - Solace - SRS - FOC + all the features is imo enough material to at the least posit him at the forefront of writers in rap, quite easily. And rap being part of the lit canon is just an overdue little move, done in 20 years tops.
