larry is a less interesting rapper than earl so he needs more interesting production
(no disrespect to larry he’s dope)
Eh. This is really funny logic to me. And for the record, I don’t really give a s*** about Larry June and I’m a huge Earl fan.
Someone being nice on the mic doesn’t equal beats being not as important for them
Yellow Homer on me like a Simpson.
which song was this?
Yall got this over idls?
no
Yall got this over idls?
Only gave it a brief listen in the car, but so far - no
I’m okay with Schoolboy and Alc never dropping a full length but man I NEED Kilo in the Trunk and that one song he played on Twitch
i think about it every day
its not 'better' but i get what he means
its just the nature of song lengths, boldy/haram/larry june albums are longer and so alchemist gets more 'progressive' and dense in keeping the beats varied and giving them hook sections etc
earl and alchemist on this seemed to strike gold on a sample loop, write an amazing verse/refrain and then move on. the songs don't demand all the bells and whistles the same way an album of 3-4 minute songs would
or at least thats my thoughts on trying to deconstruct what people actually mean

It’s also different types of artists/tones, with Earl and the tone on this project you don’t want to overpower his words with too much production
Did he do the Nipsey Hussle thing where it’s available free then available to buy for an expensive price?
Similar approaches
17k listens on they album. Not bad for an exclusive that no one was gonna check out
Who else do you think do it well?
MIKE probably, the rest of the slums guys haven’t really clicked with me aside from a couple songs each
Earl is just writing circles around these guys so it’s kinda hard for me to sit through the 59th navy blue song waxing poetic about taking accountability
