I don't know who is in their ear telling them they have to do s*** like this to draw attention to themselves but it isn't worth it. Objectively-speaking, the song isn't bad but it's one of their weaker songs and it's rather unfortunate that this is the song they decided to put this much promo into. I wouldn't even put this song in a top 500 most toxic songs list. S*** is very forgettable, considering all the songs they've made thus far but if this actually connects to the audience they made this song for then I guess it's a W for them.

It's just unfortunate that they've relegated the quality of their music to appeal to the part of black Twitter that find songs like this appealing. They peaked with Sept. 5th and haven't come close to that excellence since. I can only hope the rest of the album is a lot stronger than whatever the hell this song is.

The problem with what dvsn is doing with this song is they trying to make toxic seem cool but it’s far from it. It’s two broken people that don’t know how to communicate. There isn’t a sense of vulnerability at all.

They've been on this road since A Muse in Her Feelings. In 2016, they promised to make music that was different from what's out there but now they're confirming to the lowest possible demonination of "R&B" music.

The song tries to hard to be toxic when there isn't anything really toxic about it. It's just a weak attempt at trying to rebrand their sound as something it's never been. Sad that they think they have to do this to be successful.

man what the f*** happened with dvsn. i mean the song is aight but the promo and everything surrounding it is…terrible

It's cringe-worthy. All those big names in the production credits and they still came out with a generic-ass beat. Trayvon from the way could make a similar beat in his sleep.

  • jesomo

this one of those songs you listen to once and never again

  • But Nah Fr tho, why did they put so much promo on this joint
    It's low-key mid.
If this is part of a story on the album, it could have helped them to spice up the lyrics with a little bit of vulnerability, or at least communicate that we all f*** up sometimes, but nahh, they straight up tryna make this into an ain't-shit-nigga anthem

yeah i agree with most of what you saying. i thought Sept. 5th and Morning After were both really great. straight up well produced, well written R&B love and heartbreak songs performed well. since then...it's been shaky. they wanna fit in instead of bringing THAT feeling back that the game's missing.

The whole point of their existence should have been that they stand out lol. Songs like this ain't gonna do much for them because people will always prefer the more vulnerable s*** from them than this.

Sounds too weak to have any of those names attached to it tbh.

Maybe this will sound better as part of the album but as a single, it's not doing it for me.

Aye, you miss every shot you don't take. If it don't work, at least it's a lesson learned

They have built their great catalog up for years, but they have reached a point where they either stay where they are as an underrated/underground R&B act or try shooting for the stars. Now it is their time to go big. Hence them signing with LVRN and working with these writers and producers.

Im sure they are gonna have some real good album cuts for the "old" fans too on here.

Just because it is not what you would have wanted is something you have to deal with. I would wait until hearing the full album. They havent released a wack project yet. Have some faith. Yall just showing how fickle fans really is. So good for them on doing what is best for them.
