This episode was hard tbh, does anyone know how many eps this is? 6 or 8?
6
Last 2 episodes been great/solid but this show has an undeniable consistency problem regarding the quality overall. S*** is why this show has next to zero hype and I'm wondering if this gets a s2.
6
6 is way too short for me. idk about anyone else, but damn. that's disappointing to hear. they're going out with a banger from what I've read though.

Yeah with the reveal at the end it feels like there should be at least two more episodes to dive into that and tie up other storylines

it wasn't really too much of a reveal. we still don't know much about Desmond Hart. How'd he get those powers? Where did he come from?

Don't wanna spoil anything but they're doing a lot of groundwork in this series for future Dune content beyond Messiah, so I'd expect a second season especially given how most storylines probably won't be concluded in the finale
second season is the only way to do this story justice. plus with only six episodes it just makes sense.
Nah if they're already setting up Atreides x Harkonnen powers 10,000 years before Paul they're f***ing up. It doesn't make sense they magically have abilities by crossing their families because the whole point of Paul is that they spent 10,000 years breeding humans to get to the point of Kwizach Haderach.
Hoping its a switch up and his powers aren't mental, but also seems to lean that way given that Raquella said the dead sister's remains had patterns/substances from the machine war
Too many boring characters in this i don’t care about
Ragnar is pretty cool and interesting but it feels like he’s barely been in this compared to boring mfers like ynez
The empress is so annoying
“mother Dorotea” too like b**** you lost go back to hell.
Not a fan of some of the story threads here. Atreides x Harknonnen genes already being goated without 10k years of breeding, facedancer and Tleilaxu already existing and up to sheisty s***, idk rubs me the wrong way.
Production quality was insane though, sets and vibes work perfectly in the Denis Villenueve movie verse.
Looking forward to season 2
Realized I actually never got around to watching this. Did this turn out being good?

Some of the worst slop imaginable

Its dogshit. Made by people who dont understand Dune and just think its Game of Thrones in space
watching this now, visually it’s got some really cool stuff going on, the sets and cinematography are great.
but it’s throwing a lot at me. too many characters, too much info by episode four, and i still don’t fully get what’s actually established in this part of the timeline. a lot of stuff kind of already feels like it does 10k years later, which makes it harder to track what’s different or important. feels like it works way better if you already know the prequels timeline and at least have a solid grip on what happens after dune.
not necessarily a bad thing, except the show tries to explain a lot of it and the explanations either fall flat or just end up confusing. this makes it feel like this show appeals more to hard core dune fans. i did like the way it opens up with a past event though giving some insight.
still not sure how i feel about how they’re framing the war with the machines and the need to explain why the way things are 10,000 years later but that might be more of a problem with the source than the show itself.
the last few episodes were a lot better, the last episode pacing wise a lot better
curious where it goes next season
Guess imma check this out. Cancelled WoT, I need to support all the sci-fi/fantasy shows I can
The recent Dune news gave me an urge to watch this despite everyone telling me it wasn’t worth it, two episodes in and yeah idk.
I don’t really have an issue with the story they’re trying to tell, as the universe expands and we see different perspectives, I don’t think it entirely feels out of place. If anything, I think it slightly elevates the source material it’s taking from, but that mostly has to do with Brian Herbert being a mega hack than anything else. Still, there’s enough intrigue for me to continue.
This show’s biggest problem is there seems to be a near constant conflict of being obligated to stay true to the Dune world that Denis created, and a desire to not actually want to do that. It creates a very strange tonal (and sometimes visual) mess where it sometimes feels like I’m watching a very watered down version of Denis’ Dune, a Netflix teen drama, and a mid-2000’s HBO historical drama all at the same time. Part of me wishes they would’ve just given in to one side instead of trying and failing to find a balance, even if that would’ve meant creating something that feels entirely foreign. Maybe they would’ve gotten even more s*** in that case, but I don’t know.
A lot of the cast falls flat, but given I’m only two episodes in I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
