All Denis really wanted to do was the first couple books. He has other projects he wants to get to now like Bond. This is a natural close to the beginning arc of the overarching Dune story, but certainly not the series

There’s a perception that the latter books are “unadaptable” because of how weirder and crazier the universe becomes but I personally think they can.

He has many projects in the oven and doesn’t want to be tied to a single IP (like James Cameron with Avatar) is my guess.

Yeah I thought the sequel had some strange narrative choices and did not live up to the first one at all, so they have some course-correction to do

I was hoping the Dune Prophecy show on HBO would prove the later books could be adapted but they are just over there butchering the s*** entirely
