In my opinion TLOP would have done well over 500k fw sales if rolled out right. But he knew it would still be less than Views. Last album to outsell Drake was MBDTF. Kanye explicitly states WTT was to counter Drake and Wayne, and there’s also a 2009-10 era quote about Drake being the first artist to scare Kanye. With the exception of TLOP, he released stuff he knew wouldn’t be commercially successful because he didn’t wanna feel like he went head to head w Drake and lost. Ye was big but it was only 7 songs so it could only be so big. He had Yandhi and he was doing that feature run but he got scared, probably also bc of that diss J Prince says Drake had. There’s no conceivable reason why Ye would have done his 2018 feature run if he didn’t want to be the best commercially.

I don't think he holds as much resentment towards Kanye anymore but it's probably very much in the vein of "I can't ever be friends with this guy because he's done way too many things over the years to prove that he is a snake."
