no disrespect, the hollywood bowl 808s performance is my favorite thing ever. i just think this drake album is crazy good and people are only just starting to allow themselves to say that.

more specifically i'm thinking:

• the final track is drake's version of pinocchio story
• similar emotional content (basically the singer at rock bottom)
• synth and auto tune heavy production

since last year's international humiliation ritual, Drake also faces a hostile critical environment.

didn't pitchfork give 808s like a 6.7 or something? the smokescreen of controversy prevented them from evaluating the work properly. i think you might see a lot of that with this album.
