so biased. lol.
both these albums have some flaws bruh.
Drake is my second favorite rapper, how am I biased
And I literally said Donda is flawed but not flawed enough to take away from my liking of the album
Good music >>>> innovation for the sake of innovation
That's the problem, the tracks are just "good" but nothing more
I don't think there are any particularly bad tracks on here btw
This thread is a mess, Drake fans are keeping it real when it comes to Donda while Ye stans are trolling when it comes to CLB, there's no way y'all hate it like this. This ain't a competition, just enjoy both wtf.
I’m listening to dldt to see if drakes music has really gotten worse or I’m biased and it’s looking like it’s gotten worse.
Didn’t want to admit it but yeah unfortunately nothing drake puts out will be anything like an actual Kanye album
Just not hungry anymore but it’s cool im appreciative about this music
Kanye is my favorite artist ever, and Drake is my second favorite rapper ever, so please don’t think my opinions of these albums are biased because I love both of these artists.
I’ve listened to Donda in full at least 6 times by now, and it’s honestly shaping up to be my favorite Kanye album, or at least in my top 3. I still think MBDTF is a 10 and a damn near flawless album, but Donda, even though it definitely is flawed, just has this quality about it that I love so much. It’s long, but I don’t find it to be bloated whatsoever, it feels like Kanye’s version of an epic three hour movie. There are a few tracks I would’ve cut off, and the sequencing is a little questionable in the middle of the record, but it’s nothing too distracting to take away from my overall enjoyment of the album. It’s very consistent sonically and thematically and it has a sound that’s very simple but very specific, and he doesn’t have another project that gives off a similar vibe to this. Kanye gave us some of the best rapping and singing we’ve gotten from him in years, and virtually every feature gave a highlight performance and made their mark. The best words I have to describe this album are: emotional, impactful, and epic.
CLB, on the other hand, I’ve listened to three times now, and while I know it’s still the first day of release, after my third listen it just sounds very lifeless, stagnant, and emotionally empty to me. I don’t really understand what he was going for with this project. I thought it would be hits because of the amount of tracks and big features, but there are barely any memorable hooks / catchy moments of songwriting. So then I thought it was the rapping and lyricism, but there are barely any standout lines on the entire album and the flows all over the project are pretty lackluster. The title of the album combined with the cover art is even more jarring after actually hearing the album, and I just don’t understand why it took 3 years for Drake to deliver this. The feature list is stacked on paper, but their contributions were pretty forgettable and their placements make no sense. Why is Lil Baby on Girls Want Girls? Why is Jay Z on Love All? The decisions surrounding this album just don’t make any sense. The best words I have to describe this album right now are: soulless, redundant, and confusing.
I feel you bro drake is in my top 3 and this album just doesn’t have anything good as even his last album. I’m confused tbh

Objectively the album is good. Music is well produced and arranged well.
Subjectively it’s boring.
Objectively it also made me fall asleep.
Fam, I'm not saying every song is following the new kids but you listening to the production for most of these tracks? How niggas say Jonah beat sounds derivative and not Jesus Lord? Yeah, Kanye and Jay E are spitting but that beat (imo) is just mid to me.
But also, you could argue 24 is Every Hour pt. 2™
I do Agree that ye has been following more sounds of newer artists esp since tlop, but there are so many songs on donda that are very unique to that album exclusively, like the usage of organ and choirs is unique to me. This drake album is the same sound the past 3+ Drake albums have been. At least with donda theres an overall tone that is different from others
Drake album has a couple songs that are really good but overall pretty boring
This honestly how I feel, I’ll play it through again later and see if it hit me
and also there are still a few joints here and there on Donda that sound unfinished.
I guess my initial thought after listening to both Drake and Kanye repeated times is, not bad albums in the slightest but I expected better.
Also fountains is so bad, Tems deserved better.
Shoutout durk for mentioning Von in damn near every song and keeping his name alive so his family can eat off the music

Big Facts
Was CLB worked on a lot the last couple weeks? I just feel a lot of these songs couldn't have been worked on for 3 years
May have to accept drake may be done caring about polished projects
It’s cool you can still appreciate his 2010-2015 run and his commercial success from 2015-2018 honestly what a time to be alive
He’s given us enough hits in the past few years than most artists have in their lifetime
If you dont like CLB you must just not like Drake music
Me listening to scorpion again because I dont like this album. This simply not true

Been a Drake fan for 10 years now but you gonna tell me I don’t like his music because his newest album isn’t that great

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well donda is still being received in music sxn tbh, usually a week out the hype has faded and people are talking s***
It's a good album for sure
