Social media is an awful indicator of the general publics thoughts (and the reason why people who can actually properly aggregate and articulate market trends get paid the money they do lol)

CLB suffers a lot from its mix IMO. You can’t have drake going in for the majority of the album with a laid back flow and also have the mix suck. The secret sauce where Drake always SOUNDS good regardless of what he is saying is gone on this album.

DONDA may be bloated a bit but the mix, production and energy are all A1 on the entire thing. Kanye and the features always sound amazing, making cornball lines like “Dustin, he a Hoffman” still hit hard.

As a piece of music, DONDA is leagues better.

I’m not necessarily saying the general public

I’m comparing the content of the same content creators from different times

I’m just saying when DLDT came out nobody was in the Instagram comments talking about the actual music

It was just

“This is hard” or “this is ass”
“Drake goated” or “drake trash”
Or something talking about sales, billboard, etc

Compared to now
When the Frame of the conversation is
“CLB or DONDA?”
It’s forcing people to actually articulate a thought out opinion that is based on the music itself and then share that thought, rather than talk about numbers, and surface level BS like the norm

I wanted drake to come harder with CLB. S*** was a slog to get through. The only thing worse than bad is average and forgettable with barely any standout tracks. This is drakes 3rd time Giving us the same album

Donda was a bit messy but at least Kanye attempts to give us some soulful new s***. Pure souls, come to life, and believe what I say are some of Kanye’s best songs to date.

Your frame of reference is centered around an algorithm that curates content based on your user behavior.

It’s fun to speculate off what we see but honestly its impossible to make an assessment unless you go under the hood. Yeah its less fun but thats reality
