I'm firmly in the camp that taking your time too much loses the spirit of the recording. Beatles, Dylan, Neil Young, etc etc have recorded whole classics in a day or two and the performances retained their urgency and spirit because they didn't overwork them. Kanye the type of dude that knows his best performances are like catching lightning in a bottle.
