Real person raised in Toronto here, I'll explain the narrative a bit clearer before you go trashing people, saying they're spineless, cucks, etc

Drake is pretty loved here, but many people have reservations about him, particularly recently. I enjoy Drake's work up until 2017/2018, and I believe he can be a kind and charitable person, but the Drake we see nowadays gambles, hangs out with neo-nazi streamers, constantly disses and argues with artists, flames women and makes petty moves in the public. It's easy not to defend and bang for someone like this; if Drake kept his head down, I'm sure more people would be going bat for him. Also, the optics of defending Drake tooth and nail mean people can pull the "you're defending a groomer or pedo artist now?" line, which people don't want to get involved in.

Also, Kendrick is the most popular rapper in the area who is not named Drake, so it makes sense given how many people attend the Drake show. Many people from Detroit, other parts of Ontario, and New York attended this show--it was a spectacle because it felt like both cities; think of Pac fans in New York or Big fans in California; I'm sure everyone at those shows had Take Care downloaded.

Simply I just wish both sides had more perspective and nuance in this and didn't make biased sweeping statements on s*** they don't know

If Toronto deserves criticism, so does every city because this same phenom would happen in Chicago, NYC, Miami, Houston if Drake was from there.

Y'all are the only city that was asking for Kendrick to run NLU back again. Y'all are spineless f***s over there.

your second paragraph is funny... gambling is more popular than you realise (I mean I hate it too but be fr, You see how many sports teams have gambling sponsors? But now you're saying there is a majority that looks at Drake's connection with gambling sideways) , adin ross' antics are less popular than you realise, dissing/arguing with artists is expected in hiphop from what we see (look how popular those songs are)

the flames women thing is insane thing to seriously think too imo

completely understand what u mean about the optics thing though, and yeah Kendrick is a huge artist, literally popstar level, it's no surprise people went to the show. It's actually pretty dumb to think Kendrick wouldn't do well in Toronto or Drake won't do well in LA, these guys are huge stars.

I also wish both sides had more perspective and nuance, but it does feel like you made a sweeping statements that the AVERAGE PERSON DOESN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT!

saying that drake did nothing for toronto is disingenuous lol. everyone knows drake reps toronto. the truth is that most people don't give a f*** about it or think that deeply about it. your average person doesn't care about sides or optics. it's a huge ass city with tons of different people and perspectives. it's like going to london and assuming every person there HAS to love the beatles lol.

Well he's from here and again Kendrick is popular. Kendrick and his team knew what they were doing by giving Toronto two shows here, outside of LA this city was the main attract.

I agree in a sense that the treatment from people here towards Drake is unfair and I touched up on about it in the last page, but I don't understand why this is so surprising.

I don't want to be prudish, but Drake's gambling habits are unlike any other celebrity we see today. Sports teams gambling is also predatory; many sports fans online and in person complain about the amount of rampant advertisements, but let's not focus on that right now.

I'm not lying when I say that focusing on women leaves a bad taste in people's mouths and will continue to be the narrative. Sure, there are a lot of women in this city who adore Drake, and I'm sure they'll be at Caribana and Ovo Fest soon, but I'm just relaying what I see and what I believe; it's anecdotal after all.

Regarding the last comment people do care about this stuff, I actually try not to be involved with this entire Drake/Kendrick thing for the past few year or so, but this Kendrick show drama has me seeing so much dumb stuff on both sides, I just don't understand why I'd even begin to lie about this stuff, people call me a Drake stan/Kendrick hater sometimes

Toronto is still p****. If Drake did the same thing in LA, yes, crowds would scream back his lyrics but they wouldn't be so pathetic as to ask him to run back his Kendrick diss track again. And that has nothing to do with defending Drake or being a Drake fan. It's just having pride in your city because Kendrick also disses Toronto on Not Like Us.
