He’s basically saying the shooting at drakes house caused drake to shut down the back and forth between him and Kendrick out of respect for the security guard and his family because it would’ve been a terrible look to keep a silly feud going after someone got seriously injured.
Said Kendrick has basically crippled himself because NLU is his biggest song ever and he can’t afford to step on his own songs success right now and drakes making a tape knowing that this is the case. He said that the tape is some of the best music he’s made and is reminiscent of IYRTITL.
I’m only making this post to summarize what he’s saying so you guys don’t have to go looking for it yourself and skim through the spaces audio.
don't know about the bodyguard getting shot being the reason drake stepped down but didn't some podcaster (the guy from the rap radar interview who dropped pushup lines 3-4 days before release on his podcast) say drake is working on making music on his own terms now and won't let others dictate his work?

Yeah I remember hearing that from multiple sources tbh. I even remember hearing a similar theory about the bodyguard situation and it just makes sense to me.. I always think back to that rap radar interview where Drake said “eventually you’re going to want to stop rapping” talking about beef escalating to a certain point…
