So it's acceptable because he only does it for his wavy records? It's acceptable because his versions are better than the reference track versions? Yes, of course his version should be better, he's Drake. They should be better than the QM edition, Vory edition, PND edition, Yachy edition, Cash Cobain edition, etc.

If Kanye is the rebuttal to this argument that's fine. Then we'll just agree to say Drake is in the same tier as Kanye in terms of rap music (which is an elite tier) rather than the tier that includes guys like Jay, Nas, DMX (just to name a few. plenty of lyrical guys that have made a huge mark on hip hop) and the newer age guys like Kendrick Cole.

I think it's fair to then say Drake is in that Kanye tier/category rather than the Jay, Nas, Cole, Kendrick tier category?

Drake tweeted out on like 09 he had writers block and Kanye helped him finish the last 4 bars.
Drake tweeted he was so upset he could never finish the last two bars for Drunk and Nasty.
Vory / Yachty / QM / Party all credited.
Drake in his Rap Radar interview 2019 literally said I'll take the hits for the writer thing for everyone else it's fine.
Every top tier rapper has said Drake is him from underground to mainstream to battle rap.

Drake has never covered up or ran from a reference track wether it was something he did for someone or something someone did for him.

Do I believe there are rappers who wrote it all themselves yes. I also believe that number is sooo much smaller than you would think.

1) I never questioned Drake's pen. But to build up all these excuses for him, when multiple reference tracks constantly leak is disingenuous. All I'm saying is, he'll always have this knock on him. One can always think he is an amazing writer, who has this flaw of reference tracks.

2) Sure other rappers can have writers, but until those reference tracks leak that's speculation. Drake has had multiple verses and basically entire songs that he clearly copied. That's not speculation.

3) So it doesn't bother you at all that one of Drake's biggest selling points is his versatility as a musician and how he can make totally different sounds, but come to find out some of those really unique songs you thought only a Drake can make such as Ratchet Happy Birthday, Mob Ties, Jumbotron, Calling For You, and a plethora more, are just songs from other people? Doesn't that hurt the idea that Drake is this really versatile musician? To me it always will.

So then why do people keep bringing up Kanye West as a gotcha when reference tracks come up. Kanye uses it, why does no one care. It's only Drake.
