Basically their vocals have started to become mixed way more thin. That would be the biggest difference to me. The lows are completely cut, letting the bass come through in the mix without competing for room. And then the vocals have been squashed by compression. What they sacrifice is that full vocal sound, instead it can become super brittle. It works for Drakes more trap type of songs where he goes heavy on the autotune, but I wish they wouldn’t mix his vocals that way on his more rap heavy s***. Some of the mixing on his recent stuff bothers me lmao.
