Yeah with how many there have been lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if these tracks (or even just some of them) are getting leaked on purpose. Even the fact that both of the new tracks (though I realize they were just “officially” released) have additional verses on SoundCloud versus the video makes it seem that much more intentional that Drake is trying to direct us back to Soundcloud specifically as if he’s trying to get us used to it again maybe? That along with all the tracks now getting uploaded titled as “LEAK 2020” makes me think this SoundCloud project idea isn’t so far out of the realm of possibility.. On top of there legit just seems to be a much more positive tone to how the general audience is taking these new Drake releases and I think that actually has a decent bit to do with how it’s being presented/delivered. Just the subconscious effect of having to click a YouTube or Soundclound link to access the music versus just opening the same streaming app you always open to get your music from all artists consolidated in one place. It just feels more organic and “for the art” releasing this way because the focus is made to seem to be less on promo/money so it’s automatically easier for us to react well to it. To be clear, though, I in no way say that to downplay the quality of the music at all and I’m definitely not complaining because I still think When To Say When and Chicago Freestyle are some of his best work in recent years and honestly, maybe his career as a whole.. I’m usually really hesitant to say these things right after s*** drops but I really think these are something special.
