I can't pick. This might be the first album Drake clearly didn't go into prioritizing a obvious frontrunner for what the lead single should be and he proved that by not keeping Search & Rescue on the album despite the song being produced by BYNX, who produces like 8 songs on here and the song being a legitimate hit. He also doubled down on that by dropping Slime On You as an appetizer and then following that up with 8AM in Charlotte.
The album is like a greatest hits of album cuts.
In order to truly appreciate the album, you've gotta think of it more as an R&B album and less as a rap album. It's clear Drake set out to make an R&B album but once he went on tour, felt like he needed to rap as well so as not to totally alienate that part of his fanbase.
I get why Yachty didn't understand how it'd all fit together because this collection of songs aren't supposed to work but they do, somehow. This is also the most vulnerable Drake has ever been on an album. He's hurt on almost all the songs on here and he's not embarrassed to admit it, even going as far as saying s*** he knows will make people paint him out as a bad person.
It's sad everyone is focused on the wrong things. I could write an entire thesis on what I believe Drake's emotional state was when making this album.
Curious to hear more of your thoughts on the vulnerability and why you think itās his most vulnerable
Polar Opposites just hit for me

Very interesting. Iād like to read more about what his mindset might be, because thatās something that there seems to be some confusion about
I agree I think the album flows together well. The only songs I feel like kind of stand out is the Yeat and Yachty songs which kind of just feel like the featured artist featuring drake almost. The sexy red one kind of fits but kind of sticks out too. But I see a vision for his album so itās weird seeing people say itās totally directionless
Youāre spot on about the singles because I was just thinking this doesnāt even have one record thatās really going to become the big hit imo. It is more album cuts
Never say never just say what it is
Act like you need some insurance on it
We didn't get here on accident
7969 Santa becoming one of my favorites. Song is crazy at night
nobody does late night driving music like the boy
Woulda enjoyed this more if he just admitted he wanted to make a fun album and explore somenew styles . Instead he went on a 4 month rollout full of straight lies saying he was going back to old drake smh.
I dont want to listen to a full album sounding like take care. Besides there were songs on there that were classic Drake. If you didn't catch it then the "old" Drake your thinking is something totally different
LEEEEANIN

Yes Iām very interested in this too. I do think heās being a little bit more open with certain things, like outright s*** talking Rihanna and Rocky. Thatās not really typical of drake lately to go that far and he definitely does āgo thereā in spots on this album
But Iām not sure Iāve heard enough to say itās more vulnerable than the ones with Look What Youāve Done and Too Much on them
LEEEEANIN
read this as he said it in my headphones lol

Whole s*** is a work of art. The outro singing then the radio bit. Perfection

It depends on perspective
Itās interesting because I see a lot of people saying that the album feels like drake is trying the new styles more
But even though heās doing that, this album still captured old drake for me musically, and is easily hands down my favorite since NWTS because the production is back to that level of detail.
I still think the second half of the album is the stronger half of the album but the first half has grown on me crazy since the album dropped. I've played the album from front to back like 3 times now and there are zero bad songs here. Zero. Different songs for different moods but they all work somehow. This album will age incredibly well and it has an energy and pace that CLB severely lacked.
This feels like More Life to me in the same way More Life felt like Drake making a correction to Views. This feels like a more well put-together version of CLB.
completely agree. clb but with more energy and better writing throughout

Yeah thereās no doubt this is the improved CLB
The bunny track is an unfortunate miss though. I think most people feel like thatās a bad song
The writing on that song is INSANE

sticks out like a sore thumb tbh
that and the screw the world interlude (but itās growing on me)

tbh I see the vision for the bad bunny song. It just did not belong on this album
I f*** with it but also can why his older audience doesnāt fwi.
I can see why too. Iām 32 but Iāve been on KTT somewhat since 2012 I believe. Iāve followed certain trends that a lot of my peers think is garbage lol

Played it while driving past 7969 Santa Monica last night
tbh I see the vision for the bad bunny song. It just did not belong on this album
i see the vision ngl but something bout it not meshing imo. i think if drake got bunny on a song more like Pistols it wouldāve hit better
