How people consume music is wild to me. Drake is merging 2 generations that dope to me. He still give yāall his old drake in the rnb songs vibe
i do think this was the point of the record and everybody just missed it lol
itās supposed to combine new and old
thatās why bruh son did the cover
idk maybe im reaching
Ak saying some real s*** about the album and just Drake as a person right now, canāt believe he going off like this
Jay didnāt belong on both of those songs and it was blatantly obvious too
I feel like Jay asked to be on Love All after he heard the leak and Drake couldn't say no
Because thereās no way Drake had that Love All/Need Me that transitioned perfectly to scrapping it for that Hov verse

the thing is, ruining a basic Yeat song with an overwrought nonsensical intro and a cringe verse isnāt quite merging 2 generations.
I agree with the sentiment that usually when people clamor for the āoldā version of an artist back, itās mostly just because they miss the life they had when they first discovered that artist.
But with Drake specifically I think thereās a little merit to it at this point in time, because I think his approach to music has done a complete 180 from the days of Take Care and Nothing Was the Same.
Itās like content wise, itās the same s***, but the approach is a clear attempt at making it palatable to high school students and people around that age.
I agree
More trappy beats
More braggy verses (I guess kinda)
He got way more popular since that old drake tho
How do you feel about fatd though?
Great point. Drake kind of alluded to this in his clap back at Budden - being able to adapt and cater to different generations is why he has achieved this unprecedented longevity. If he kept the same sound as his early works he wouldāve fallen out of favour by now. Tapping in with younger artists is crucial for him to continue his run. And I think it sounds great anyway
I agree with this and disagree with this at the same time.
Sure, itās true that artists who arenāt able to adapt to modern sounds will get left in the past, but at the same time if youāre an artist of Drakeās stature you donāt have to chase trends to maintain relevance.
Look at someone like Ye, who has remained relevant in part by collaborating with younger artists throughout the course of his career, but he always manages to bring them into his world and create something unique rather than just riding whatever wave that artist is trending for.
Donda had some of the most contemporary features of 2021, but that album still manages to have one of the most unique and singular soundscapes of Yeās entire discography.
There are songs on For All The Dogs where Drake is literally just laying a verse down on a Yeat song or a Yachty song and not attempting to actually create anything unique with these newer artists, and instead rather just latching onto their hype to tap into younger audiences
Hoping this has the honeslty nevermind effect and I like it more soon. Currently I feel really mixed. Some good rnb but I donāt know itās just not clicking right now after a few listens. Tried Our Best, 8 am in Charlotte, and some others feel really polished but some others I just donāt really get it. But I also trust like usually drake and his camp know what I will eventually grow to really like so Iām trying to remain optimistic.
He saying he likes the album but thinks itās far from Drakeās best, says it feels lowkey meaningless and redundant, that itās too long.
Thought the features were unnecessary and that he prefers the days when Drake albums had minimal features.
He also said heās surprised that Drake responded in the way that he did to Budden, and said he hopes that Drake doesnāt feel like heās completely above criticism anymore
Damn so he doesnāt rly like the album?
Heās a BIG drake fan too lol

I like it overall, I think itās a really entertaining listen.
But I think itās too long, some of the lyrical content is a little eyebrow raising for Drake at this point of his career, and I donāt like how it feels like heās shamelessly pandering to reach a younger market with this project.
But I do like it overall, Iād give it maybe a 7/10 right now.

He said it likes it but he doesnāt love it

My take on that situation is it was too damn obvious it was about Jorja and I think maybe he didn't want that out there officially
But the first half is still a great song (imo it catches the essence of a Drake classic perfectly) and I think he figured may as well have Jay on there and make it into a high quality thought piece
I donāt know
I feel like I probably wouldāve enjoyed him when I was a bit younger maybe Iām just an old head now
His music does nothing for me like itās unlistenable
S*** happens
cant blame u
If you let the chirping around you affect you then it is what it is.
None of that stuff is real.
This is an incredible project.
I just miss when Drake features actually felt like additions to Drake songs rather than Drake just hopping on the featureās sound.
IDGAF couldāve been on a Yeat album, Another Late Night couldāve been on a Yachty album, Gently couldāve been on a Bad Bunny album and it wouldnāt have made a difference.
Whereas songs like Lord Knows, Pound Cake, or The Real Her only couldāve existed on a Drake album
A lot of it pretty much sounds like original songs from his features that were given to him to add on to.
On IDGAF he sounds like a feature.
On Another Late Night he sounds like a feature.
On Gently he sounds like a feature.
Calling For You just sounds like two combined solos that don't go together.
First Person Shooter is cool in the beginning, but it still broke off into what sounds like something you'd hear him do with 21 Savage in the second half.
There's stuff to love of course but it just doesn't feel complete.

He doesnāt rock w it

This is my take! The quality of production is elite! The execution is high level stuff

I don't think that's the case because everyone knew Jaded was blatantly about Jorja
And now he has a song blatantly about Hayley Karina in Bahamas Promise he's literally singing her name
And yeah first half is quintessential Drake no doubt

And that's so weird because it always felt the other way around with Drake and his features
Hoping he takes as long as he needs, I mean mfer been dropping constantly since 2013. Lets see if he comes back hungry and refreshed, also would like to see the state of the game once he goes away
Didnāt he have like a 4 year wait from scorpion and CLB?
Care package and dark lane donāt get since they were throwaways and old classic songs we heard
I don't think that's the case because everyone knew Jaded was blatantly about Jorja

I think he has some bitterness towards the Jorja situation so much to the point that he won't really mention it even in his music since it may indirectly boost her career
I may be reaching but Drake talks about all his exes/flings and since Jaded he hasn't really touched this topic and he even reworked I Could Never to take her off
So when I say he didn't want it out there officially I mean it more as an ego thing
Also taking off the second half of Love Me willingly is crazy it was THAT song that made me feel like Drake never left
