First listen I thought the skit led into the next song which was 21 on the soulful beat and then a beat switch for drake

Why is no one acknowledging how weird this album is and just tryna be pretentious and be like “beat switches bad and not experimental”

The way this album flows musically is insane

Love the frank ocean sample, before streaming In in like 2013 I had this weird mixtape that had a bunch of old pre channel orange loosies and wise man was one of them, so hearing that instantly gave me chills and memories

The back half was not it for me tho, it’s like Pink Tape, where I’m like ok, starting off I’m here for it, let’s go, and then it just gradually breaks itself down with weird decisions until it’s totaled itself

The song structures on here are all pretty weird

because ppl don’t think drake is capable of being high-brow in any capacity for some reason

like, this album is so f***ing obviously meant to be ‘the weird one’ of his discog but the intentionally weird choices on here are instead being viewed as mistakes or oversights

Idk what my reputation on here is at this point, but I’m not a blind drake stan, I really did feel like 2016-2020 was a somewhat dry and uninspired period from the boy musically and got some drake fatigue

But anyone acting like this is just “blah another bloated drake album” don’t be really listening to the music like that

You’re letting the fatigue and the narrative cloud the music for you

At the very least you can tell this was very intentional and worked on

He hasn’t hit high notes like this in years. The singing tracks are on some sooner than later level brilliance. Like he finally tapped back into that real r&b back

Daylight makes me want to hit f***ing 150 on the highway
