Just revisited this Zane Lowe interview. Funny enough, one of the first topics they discussed was prematurely announcing albums and drake said he and Oliver are conscious of that.

Drake also went on to talk about how he wanted to make a tape like IYRTITL so bad before working on views. I say all of this to say… it seems like HNVM might have been a similar situation. I know FATD didn’t get the announcement two years early like views did but the timing certainly seems to align.
