It’s formulaic because it is literally the same formula as a lot of his one long verse rap songs, and there’s nothing that makes it standout from any of them. I’ve heard Drake make that song a million times by now. He does it well, but that’s a poor version of it in my opinion.

And yes, I know that the first half has those songs, I never said it was perfect, I said it was solid for the most part. Champagne Poetry, Fair Trade, TSU, N 2 Deep, Pipe Down, and Yebba’s Heartbreak are all amazing songs. Papi’s Home & Love All are pretty good. And I like Way 2 Sexy for what it is, but I do think that after Drake’s verse the song loses all of its momentum.

For an album that was almost completely derailed because of the pandemic & dealt with multiple leaks, there’s way more hits than misses on the album. Very good music on there.

tbh none of what you said is extreme or anything. not sure how clb can rank highly for any drake fan it's basically a retread of all his previous albums but done ina very callous matter.
there's some decent songs cool like champagne poetry n 2 deep race my mind but then the album flows terribly it's like one of those 500 song playlist you have on shuffle.
then you have the fact some of the songs are tedious and undercooked. hnvm and HL are so much better

100%. That’s another reason why I don’t really like CLB overall. It doesn’t feel like Drake was super focused in making it, and I think the numerous pushbacks because of the pandemic played a role in that.

Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss are both much better projects, the difference is night and day for me
