That’s fair. I do think he’s on the path to making great work again as shown with the last 2. but I still think there could have been more effort to make those albums even better.

For example, him cutting out parts of Overdrive and Calling My Name didn’t make any sense to me (especially the CMM verse at the end) The bars and flow were a lot stronger prior to the late 10s run and even now.

I think (for whatever that’s worth) that sometimes he does try to people please a little too much. That’s why I can appreciate a project like HN so much because it felt like the first time in a long time that he decided that he was going to drop a project he wanted to drop, rather than what people would tune in to. Even with Jimmy Cooks on there, it was a natural lead into the next album so I’m not going to hold him too much for that. This trilogy (retconning FATD for CLB lol) is setting up to be his strongest three project run since TC-IYRT imo and to do that this far into his career is commendable which is why that take from the tweet rubs me the wrong way lol just an empty criticism for RTs and likes
