Y’all gas this nigga way too much

I’m not a Carti fan myself but I can admit he makes enjoyable music without claiming he’s some rap genius lol

Saying that “the producers don’t do all the work, Carti actually provides a lot to the songs” somehow equates to saying “Carti is a rap genius”?

    Y’all niggas can’t read

I enjoy Carti music but it was always funny to me how quick people would be to defend what he does but a ton of other artists who also came up in the SoundCloud/ “mumble rap” era did not get that same luxury.

Like most of what he does is just

Basic lines, adlibbing (a lot), and being repetitive. And people will have you believe he runs the game because he’s copied a lot, but newsflash, a simple formula will usually get copied lol.

In fact, the SoundCloud era probably brought about an influx of artists copying each other more than any other era imo because all of them has such an easy formula.

You used the word “vocal agility” which is a phrase you made up to just hype up Carti as great lol

While Carti does is rap in a different voice

At least in the case of Young Thug, he actually makes melodies with his voice

Is it not possible that Carti has more charisma and mic presence than 90% of them?

Please point to me a SoundCloud artist who didn’t become as successful as Carti who is also making music as good has Carti’s been since 2017. I’ll wait.

They love to call s*** basic but hand any of these guys a mic and a beat and they wouldn’t be able to replicate it whatsoever

It does. And Carti isn't the first nor will he be the last. Remember wiz khalifa at the peak of his popularity? His rapping was pretty basic from a technical standpoint. But his charisma, mic presence, and style was not. And that's what made people love him. Point is stop looking purely at the technical s***. There's more to it than that. Carti is just that nigga right now and that's it.

His music has been horrid for the past couple years. He was on a good run until like 2019/2020, but he just stopped making music that people like.

Also, he oversaturated himself. Another big draw for Carti is that he’s very selective with his releases. A new Carti album always feels like an event

Wiz rapped about the same like 4 things lol. He just did it well so people didn't really mind. Repetitive doesn't automatically mean it's bad
