i dont think Kendrick hated Drake until Drake took the defensive stance by subbing after Control. i truly believe if Drake doesnt acknowledge it or jabs back with a clear indication that it was a friendly fade, this beef doesnt happen

Kendrick went on to work with pretty much every artist he mentioned in that verse except for Wale, Drake, Rocky, Jay Electronica

Not saying Drake didnt have a right to react how he did, because its understandable, but i wish he was a lil more calculated with his reaction

I love Drake but I’m starting to believe all of this stemmed from that top rapper list (I can’t remember which magazine) that had Kendrick ranked as 1 above Drake post GKMC. I was actually surprised after I saw the tweet talking about that’s where it stemmed from (I wish I could find it) and then listening to Jodeci Freestyle and Over Here (June 2023) and it actually lines up with some of the lyrics and I feel like he felt a way from that point then Control drops (August 2023) and gets a ridiculous amount of buzz just seems like it really got under his skin and the rest was history. I genuinely believe that Kendrick had absolutely no issues with Drake until he started dissing him which I mean yeah it’s his right but honestly it’s a little ridiculous even as a Drake fan. Of course there is stuff we could not be privy to but going off what we can piece together potentially. From there yeah it’s evolved to something way bigger but just goes to show how the biggest issues can start over something so dumb

People still believing Kendrick went at Drake for altruistic purposes are idiots. Dude is a midget mindless hater who had to spend an entire career watching Drake be more successful than him and couldn't take it anymore when it turned into Drake and Cole linking up and being buddy buddy while also being more successful than he was at the time.

Don't even let me get into the whole other discussion about how mainstream rap is cooked commercially moving forward.

I think it’s safe to say you’re blinded by bias. Kendrick’s career moves would’ve looked a lot differently if he was just drowning in jealousy over Drake’s success in the mainstream.

I would honestly be shocked if they ever reconciled at that level but then again Jeezy and Gucci were on the same stage so never say never. Unfortunately I feel like Pandora’s box has been opened and I feel like both rightfully feel like they can never be the first to extend the olive branch

Yeah, Drake kinda started it from that RapFix list, then going on ESPN and having that interview canned. That's where 5am in Toronto came from, then control and the BET cypher.

Learning that TDE really had a Drake poster up as motivation opens the door for me to think there was underlying animosity between them both even before they met

Drake has always been more forgiving than Kendrick, dont think he’d be the first to reach out but if someone were to mediate, i can see it happening as long as it was genuine from both sides

If you watch the Punch x Curtiss King interview, it’ll give you some insight on TDE’s mindset about rap in 2023 when Drake was pumping his chest from Her Loss to FATD.

It was mostly about Kendrick’s legacy (him proving he’s active, the best, etc.) and spiraled once lines were crossed on both sides because of decade long tension between the camps.

Some of yall really don’t understand rap is a competitive sport. Even Drake with this lawsuit. He’s a talented rapper who cares about accumulating capital, staying relevant, and wanting to be respected. But he didn’t learn from first time with Pusha that these battles will bring up salacious accusations that will damage his reputation if he engaged.

Hov and Nas came up in the same city around the same time and similar people. Both also care more about business than people

Gucci and Jeezy really ain't bout much. Just because somebody die out doesn't make a situation impossible to reconcile. Gucci was an addict that got clean

I think the Drake and Kendrick situation infinitely more difficult to comeback from because not only the slandering but the potential interference with business
