like Her Loss’s production wasn’t really too good out of a handful of songs, but Drake’s rapping was way more engaging and just generally entertaining on the entire project, it’s a fun cool tape with some blemishes
his issue as of late has been stuffing his albums with a bunch of filler, pretty poor beat selection and phoned in verses
it’s crazy because that freestyle he dropped this year made me think he was gonna be really locked in for this project but it was just essentially the same old issues with a track here and there that are tolerable/good
The album is too long
But other issues that the other long albums had aren’t present here
The beats and production is better
There’s a theme to give the album some direction
Kind of a sonic direction and vibe to it
And most importantly his vocals are back to how good they were pre-2016 when he got a little lazy with singing imo
I feel like drake just has the opposite of good will built up after that uninspired run, so people see that this is long and the content is similar so they group it in with those and s*** on it, he’s not in a position where gets benefit of the doubt and I get why
But people acting like this is just another one of those long drake projects really makes me feel like I’m in a different reality. It’s so clear that this was worked on more than those

I’ve talked to ye fans and when it’s songs like that they usually say “oh he’s not doing this seriously he’s doing a satire of modern rap” so they still have a sense of superiority for the more trendy basic stuff that they want to go against
