what do you think lawyers do for rich celebrities? if they think this case has no merit, you think they're just gonna tell Drake to hire someone else?

    Yes actually

Yes, like somehow, Drake's team of lawyers missed this but some dude on KTT figured it out in 2 days.

I would pay unlimited amount of money to see Smacked Voodoo present that idea to a lawyer

The Lawyers Drake hired have a reputation to worry about as well. They want to be known as the lawyers who took on UMG and won.

    This is his lawyer.

representing a high profile client is a win for a legal firm regardless of outcome. drake is not getting turned down by any defamation lawyer in the world regardless of whether or not his claims have merit

can you show me a single example of this occurring with a wealthy celebrity? was OJ innocent because he had one of the best teams of defence attorneys in history? surely they wouldn't have risked their reputations right

That's not how this works my guy lol

It is how it works. Drake basically said I heard a rumor. Kendrick said Drake's album title and called him a pedo.

One example is when Donald Trump reportedly had trouble finding lawyers to represent him in various legal battles, particularly after the 2020 election and during investigations into his business dealings. Some prominent law firms turned him down due to concerns about his reputation and the potential difficulty of getting paid.

Trump was turned down for being an incredibly divisive figure, not because of his lawsuits' lack of merit. Trump has been filing frivolous and vexatious lawsuits since the early 80s and he's had no issue getting the best possible legal representation until his presidential run

    Bill Cosby (Sexual Assault Cases)

After Bill Cosby was accused of multiple sexual assaults, several high-profile lawyers reportedly refused to represent him. Some attorneys didn’t want to be associated with such a controversial case, while others had concerns about the likelihood of success. Cosby ultimately had to change his legal team multiple times during his trials.

    Harvey Weinstein (Sexual Misconduct Cases)

Harvey Weinstein, once a powerful Hollywood producer, struggled to secure top-tier legal representation after being accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women. Many elite lawyers, including Lisa Bloom (who initially agreed to advise him but later withdrew), distanced themselves from him due to the overwhelming public backlash.

Charlie Sheen (HIV Lawsuits & Other Legal Troubles)

Charlie Sheen, known for his erratic behavior and public scandals, has reportedly been turned down by lawyers in various legal matters, including cases related to his disclosure of HIV status. Some attorneys were hesitant to take on his case due to his history of unpredictable behavior and difficulties with past legal teams.

Kanye West (Business & Divorce Battles)

Kanye West, during his divorce from Kim Kardashian and his controversial public statements, reportedly had trouble retaining lawyers. He went through multiple attorneys while dealing with his divorce and business disputes, as some legal professionals found him difficult to work with.

its not even retrofitted before all of this s*** happened kanye literally said we are excited about the elimination of drake why do we keep on acting like this wasnt a 20v1 why do we keep on acting like umg didnt do weird things to promote NLU, if anything the nigga did the beef to get all the evidence he could of foul play by the niggas who signed him to a slave contract

Right but the Kanye quote was after the initial response to like that. When the beef kicked off everyone assumed that Drake was coming from the power position after he chose to engage which follows the purple decision tree here. He ended up following the red decision tree, which now because we have all of the information we assume the outcome was always going to follow that path. When in reality, at the starting point, if the information about the contract negotiations is true the optimal path was to not engage. If you want to add in that it was a 20v1 and the label was against him, sure you can up the probability of a loss to even 70% or higher, but that just makes it a less optimal strategy

Not with this many eyes on the case.

Any form of incompetence from his lawyers and they will be known for it forever.

Anytime Amber Heard's team of lawyers gets brought up on a different case they are always labeled as "The lawyers who represented Amber Heard during her trail against Johnny Depp."

They looked so unprepared it was comical.

aye man idk maybe its his only way out of the contract, maybe its because the entire industry conspired with a plan to take this nigga out and everyone woulda called him a b**** if he never responded

damned if you do damned if you dont

You're coping hard. I get it cause niggas listened to Drake since elementary school type s*** but at the end of the day he's going out like a sucker. Since when do we come up for reasons for niggas suing over diss tracks. It's teenagers out there with nothing that took way more disrespectful disses on the chin and came back.

Drake feels UMG shouldn't have put out the song on the strength of their business relationship and him being on the label his entire run. I know this because he said as much in those leaked DMs. Yall turn this s*** into some renegade fight the power s*** when it's clear he's just spiraling because he cant handle the loss. He said he wouldn't be able to handle a true loss on Do Not Disturb. Remember UMG took down adidon. He thought they would do him that same solid.

And another thing that bothers me about this whole s*** is he'll stream with those racist white boys on kick but he'll throw the black streamers under the bus talking about UMG helped them with the copyright s*** to slander him. But dude had no problem hitting them up to react to his tracks. S*** is lame all around fr.

his lawyers are not being incompetent, that's not what I'm saying at all. of course they are representing this case in the most effective manner possible. that doesn't mean that the case at its core has any merit

Elaine Bredehoft's reputation in the legal community hasn't changed at all, her record is absolutely incredible
