thats not the point lol its supposed to be like that, he laid the brick for soundcloud and legitimized it to the point kids found it to be the big leagues for their musical endeavors

He released music on the platform but he didn’t make it what it is. Nobody associates him with the platform or the greater SoundCloud movement

It’s not personal at all lmao, Trippie has just bounced from sound to sound his entire career, if you use him as an example anyone who’s ever had a popular record is influential

Give me an example and I'd you say trip at knight then you don't know ball

    He popularized modern beat switches

He was the first to surprise drop

His features from the 2010s were a generational run that assisted many moments and careers to manifest

His sound with 40 bred an entire regional sound that’s found its fingerprints in other regions

He was not the first to surprise drop

I’d argue Travis popularized beat switches, even though Drake technically was doing them first

The features got nothing to do with musical influence, that’s exposure

Yes, 40 did create a sound that was influential, but its’ influence was on R&B/pop music, not rap

  • Aug 13, 2025

Drake is to 2010s rap game what 50 Cent was to the 2000s

Just imagine the Migos and Future influence in rap scene RN.

Now, imagine Migos and Future without Drake help.

Nigga Drake pushed the rap culture to another level. The man got the vision.

Offset said last week: "I rock with Drake — that's my boy. He stamped Migos"

    That’s exposure

    @illegalnecessity @TommyCampos

Here’s a playlist of the most streamed songs in the history of the platform

Drake ain’t even in the top 20

    https://m.soundcloud.com/user-872739784/sets/100m-songs

I see what @illegalnecessity is saying about Drake legitimizing SoundCloud as a platform, but I also see what you’re saying in that when people think about the most prominent artists to be birthed from SoundCloud, nobody is thinking of Drake

drake wasnt the first surprise dropper but he def made it way more popular. he also was the first time a rapper dropped a "commercial mixtape" because iyrtitl came out on soundcloud at the same time it came out on itunes, shortly before being deleted

Migos sound back in the day was strange AF, without Drake pack they would be just a Trinidad James/Travis Porter and rap game nowdays maybe would be another thing.

Nah he wasn’t the first to do a surprise drop. Even Beyoncé did it before him in 2013

I hate when yall Drake Stan’s give credit to drake for things that other artists did first. This is why you need to listen to more music

Everything I said is 100% true, especially the first part. Drake is not the first artist to surprise drop
