Drake literally shaped the 2010's rap scene with his stimulus pack

Lil Durk, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Future, Migos, etc.

Without Drizzy, a lot of cats wont reach the mainstream status.

    put Canada on rap map

Influenced Tory Lanez, Trippie Redd, Juice Wrld and a lot of people

He hopped on their waves. Saying none of them were going mainstream whatsoever is nuts. Mutually beneficial.

Did he really get on stage with Drake lol

Nah he’s a lunatic that threatens everyone with death that disagrees with him

What do any of these words have to do with the fact that Tory Lanez primarily makes R&B?

I never said he didn’t influence Tory. But Tory is mostly an R&B artist

Drake pushed the rap/R&B connection to a whole another level, making elite verses and hooks like this:

I f*** with Trippie but I never got much Drake out of his music tbh. I could see him being influenced by Drake though

No, it’s a moot point. If your best example is a smaller SoundCloud artist that fizzled out years after debuting and also jumped on various trending sounds along the way, then the artist in question didn’t really leave that impactful of a musical influence on the world at large. Trippie has literally done almost every sound that was popular at one point or another

Trippie lowkey came in the game with his own style as a 16 year old kid. Thats why I’ve always said he was underrated af

    Cap,

A lot of rappers at big level like Drake did not share their shine with another artists cause they fear get outshined.

U need balls to push new artists like Drake while u on top.

Not tryna convince you man your mind is clearly made up

im sorry, i truly love your angle because i think abt this stuff the same way but gnx is not the album to do it with. You could quote its success and it may fool people since squabble up and tv off were shining bright on the charts but luther is the only true star of this album. Id also argue that luther, man at the garden, gloria and heart pt. 6 are the only truly memorable songs that could make a kendrick top list. For its "moment" you could also make a point for Tv Off but thats it for sure.

I also believe that the "rollout" phase for this lacks a proper connection to the album, the beef, the pop out and the press run all seem like a different era. The gnx era basically starts with its drop so we only have the gn tour to go with it (which is amazing also thanks to sza).

All in all this is not enough for me to call this a classic yet, nevermind an INSTANT classic. It may be able to reach classic status sooner or later in the eyes of some but to me it lacks the quality and impact for that label. He has many more albums that fit that title, theres no need to be pushy about it.

Even if you wanna say this (there is a valid argument here), this is about infrastructure and has nothing to do with musical influence.

Drake’s biggest influence he’s left behind on the world & industry of music is being almost directly responsible for the transition to and legitimizing of streaming.
