They not gonna like this one
how unc gramps feels when he uses "they" in his ragebait posts
More and more of this s*** is gonna be exposed as hollow and Drake fans gonna be in here crying a week later talking about “why yall keeping this thread alive”
Can’t wait to bump this post
I just spent last couple hours going through the documents gonna do a write up of what each side is arguing, unbiased. (All of the documents are filed from drakes side, but include snippets of what UMG is arguing back to them).
First point that seems to be Major:
Custodian Disputes
(“Custodian” means a person whose email, files, and communications will be searched for relevant evidence.)
Drake's Position:
Add Sir Lucian Grainge (Chief Executive Officer of UMG’s parent company), Jason Kawejsza (UMG in-house lawyer), and other senior figures to the list of custodians. Drake says these people likely have important communications about marketing, promotion, or possible actual malice (legal standard in defamation requiring proof the defendant knew something was false or acted with reckless disregard for the truth).
UMG's response:
Refuses Grainge, says he had no direct role, and any relevant emails would be “duplicative” (copies of what’s already in other people’s emails). Refuses Kawejsza, says his work is protected by attorney client privilege, and reviewing it would be a huge burden.
Claims Drake agreed in a June meeting that the custodian list was final unless “new evidence” came up and none has. Therefore Lucian and Kaweisza wont be Custodians unless Drake provides new evidence (agreed by drake's team)
Certain “niggas” like @illegalnecessity make em lesbihonest tho
b**** dont trauma dump through beef 2 me go listen to dis u 50 cent ass nigga

Drake also wants senior executives and department heads who worked on Kendrick Lamar’s releases included.
UMG has responded that they’ve already expanded from 5 to 11 custodians, including label heads John Janick (Interscope/Capitol) and Monte Lipman (Republic Records), which they think covers all relevant leaders.

Second point:
Kendrick Lamar’s Contract
Drake demands the full, unredacted (nothing blacked out) Kendrick Lamar contract to see all clauses that might relate to “Not Like Us”
UMG has given only the sections that cover UMG’s right to approve, reject, or change the song/video, plus a list of section headings for the rest of the contract.
Refuses the rest as irrelevant to the case.
Keep em coming kroniic their entire reality is melting
what the frick are they hiding

It’s not irrelevant if they know that this song was discussed during Kendrick’s deal talks back in 2022
it feels like kronic is reading to the class
see the fun you have when you overlook racism
This is a beautiful lesson in reading the details and not creaming over headlines angels

I hope no one heard that

Third point
Search Method Disagreements
Drake Opposes UMG’s plan to run “filter” search terms before sending data to an outside vendor. Drake says that’s unreliable, delays production, and risks missing relevant material.
UMG Says filtering reduces the number of documents and lowers discovery costs. Claims storage costs for unfiltered data are higher.
Drake has since agreed to the filtering
Drake wants written confirmation that text messages and any other non-email sources (non-Microsoft 365 data) from custodians’ devices are collected.
UMG says they plan to collect mobile and other data for agreed custodians, but Drake keeps pressing for written proof.

Tell it to the judge weirdo
So does anybody want me

Fourth Point
Marketing Money & Payola
Drake wants a full breakdown of marketing funds possibly spent on Kendrick Lamar or the song/video, and how UMG’s “central repository” (database) is organized and searched.
UMG says they searched and found nothing for “Not Like Us,” but won’t provide extra detail on how the database works unless needed.
Drake demands all complaints or reports of payola related to the song, whether formal or informal.
UMG says Global Compliance group (internal department that handles legal/ethical complaints) has nothing on this song, and won’t confirm broader policy details unless ordered by the court.
Court has denied Drake to push more on this as unveiled via the June 12th meeting and court determined UMG has provided all relevant data they have needed to.
