Drake was in his bag on take care. He was so hungry. Everything he was spitting was so good. I hope he delivers something as memorable and long lasting as take care on his new album.

pressure. when you get dissed that hard and your entire credibility is in question, the last thing you wanna drop is an experimental album that could get mixed reviews. niggas would say "Drake got dissed and turned p****, Drake is done, Drake you not hip-hop"

this is why i hate when drake appeals to his lame ass rap fanbase (who don't even respect his music like that)

that's true. i wish he wasn't so caught up in what the audience reaction would be and made music for himself and did what he wanted to do. he would have more fun and be happier. but i guess when the entire world is your audience i can't really blame him.

After hearing this i’m just convinced of something or have a theory. Yes the beefs play a part in him changing s*** up before the drop. Prime examples being Scorpion and Views of course. I am also aware other minor things play part in it too. One of those things to me seems to be he just isn’t 100% sure about putting out s*** like this potential song, Vital, ect you get the point by now. It then feels like he becomes a bit self conscious about what songs people may like and may not like.

At a position like his that’s crucial too. Now this is not a dig at him at all but it just makes me wonder why feed into the beefs and let it carry over to your album? I get he says everything in music rather than Twitter and s*** but to me it sucks cause we miss out on some straight gems and heat because of this. I still enjoy both Scorpion and Views but man I could only imagine what OG Scorpion and VFT6 would of been like.

Long read I know but I couldn’t explain it without typing it out. More of a convo starter cause it makes me wonder I think he would of absolutely killed that track in the op video.

This was an interesting read, but I don't see the lack of confidence in him. The thing about Drake is that the dude engages too much I remember in 2013 when he got into it with Kendrick over Control, then Meek the summer before Views dropped and the Pusha situation in 2018 started over a sub he could have completely ignored cause it did no real damage. He engages too much in these senseless beefs where realistically he can't win over "real hip-hop" fans. The albums that have been scrapped due to these beefs have so much potential and it would change the narrative about him focusing on numbers. It's kind of something worth looking at that this is his first album with no beef attached to it in the past 5 years.

Agreed he doesn’t but he’s good at not showing it cause from a musical standpoint he can be super vulnerable so it is interesting to me imo. Like I said a lot of contributing factors end up deciding what he chooses to do in the end.

You’re good but I see what you mean i’m more so talking from a musical standpoint. Also basing it off a person I never met or even know well. Just observing from the outside it seems like he changed those albums cause at that time felt compromised and vulnerable. Like he had to prove a point and stick it back. You’re right about the beefs I agree just a lot of contributing factors that in the end nobody but himself will really know.

It seems to me that he thinks in the present when making these choices rather than long term.

As for the Jessie Reyes track, I’m glad it wasn’t on Scorpion, she stunk up that verse.
