I love this song but can someone please explain the weekend diss when he said “Uhhhhhh uhhhhh…. Almost started reaching for my waist”?

Is he saying Weeknd reached for his waist?

Is he saying he reached for his waist for the Glock to shoot Abel for singing at him?

Is he saying he reached for his waist for a different purpose?

I thought he was being sarcastic cuz later on he seems to be mocking weeknd singing in a beef

    Her Loss Day

THIS SECOND VERSE IS CRACK AND IDK HOW TF MEET THE GRAHAMS COULD EVEN STEP ON THIS.

THE BOY’S PEN IS WORKING 😮‍💨

this bout to get me shot up by some kenny stans but it almost feels like kendrick knew he couldn’t compete on some lyrical diss s*** so he recontextualizad the whole thing as a s*** slinging contest (drake did no better mentioning some bullshit about his beating his wife/dave free and all that like sorry that s*** don’t move me). i highly doubt kendrick actually feels that way he strikes me as someone more high on his own supply though

if drake diss again he needs the angle of putting kendrick on. Taking him on tour; basically making him the peoples champ. spreading his black wokeness across the states.

like let me compare two death threat bars back to back.

the YNW Melly bar from euphoria. i don’t like this bar at all. it feels like empty theatrics on kendrick’s part to impress the unwashed masses. “maaaan my friends are cool now but i love em to death… i’ll explain that in 8 bars…” 8 bars later “if they not my real friends in YNW melly 😈” like really bro? this is insanely mid and not even an original bar. that’s like saying “follow me i wanna show you something so cool” you follow the nigga and he shows you a stick coming out of a tree trunk or some s***. so lame. f***ing middle school s*** on god.

meanwhile on family matters… “good kid maad city van we’ll pop the latch and let the door slide. tears running down my cheek, laughing at you pussies dyin it’s a war cry…” bro. this is a mf mobb deep level bar bro. how yall niggas even thinking these lyrics are on the same level??? that’s mf poetry man. imagery. that’s what i gravitated to hip hop for, not empty rap theatrics.

i just picked these two as examples, but there are others. just the most stark example for me personally

on top of that compare the wasted words and wasted space on kendrick’s lyric sheets whereas drake don’t waste no f***in time. “youre movin just like a degenerate every antic is feelin distasteful” bro is literally saying lyrical spiritual miracle beeracle you’re cringe. it’s VERBOSITY as opposed to PROFUNDITY. it’s pseud s*** to impress folks who are easily impressed. the lyrics are like this throughout and on a LOT of kendrick songs but yall ain't ready for that convo

i ain’t even saying drake won, ive made my distaste for heart pt 6 known, and i don’t think he wins regardless if this is where it’s gonna be left on. not like us verse 3 is a mf killshot for me personally especially as an atlanta native lmfao and overall the song is a huge dub, probably his best track out of his whole run… but overall a lot of kendrick’s other showings in this beef for me have been painfully middling and people are seemingly overrating the s*** out of him because the the chosen one or some s***. nah f*** all that, if some of these empty calorie ass bars came out of drake’s mouth they’d be down his throat

makes “kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a grammy right now” even more f***ing hard

bro he has so many angles he could take which is why i was disappointed from the defensiveness of heart pt 6

I feel the exact same way. Once Drake stooped low it became a smear campaign for Dot. He said f*** the bars and just started to plainly call Drake a deadbeat pedophile who is evil and needs to die 😂

He saw that it didn’t completely step on Family matters bc of the daughter lie then pulled a diss bop out his ass.

I still don’t think it was enough to win the entire thing but that bop sure does distract everyone from the fact that the boy was barring up.

eminem did the "i make music that electrify em" bar better 10 years ago w "i make elevating music you make elevator music" they'll say "oh well it's a double entendre because pacifiers are for babies and drake a pedo!!" except kendrick saved the pedo s*** for meet the grahams aside from the title being euphoria but go off

I need Drake to rap like on his second verse with another drill beat. It's time to rap on offense.

i acknowledge that but it's still not as clever as the em bar which i doubt even kendrick himself would disagree with

so far drake is by far ahead in terms of production which is so confusing when kendrick usually has a much better ear for beats

you know i've been going through kendrick's catalog the past couple months and I'm starting to come to the conclusion after really sitting and living with this man's music since i was basically a kid that he is... actually like.. not all that great lyrically. i still contend that he's an excellent album architect and he can write lyrics that very well serve his album sized narratives as well as tell simple stories of street tragedy and things of that nature, or just really straightforward platitudes about black folk ballooned out into these grand statement albums, but when you actually hunt for the lyrical meat it just ain't really there. not like a true top tier lyricist, despite the fact that he is still a great artist. these things are distinct

the white media establishment has just long chosen him as their savior and their token "we're not racist we recognize black struggle" virtue signaling guy, even gave him a pulitzer he honestly didn't deserve (if racism werent a thing songs in the key of life would've been the first album outside of an academic or contemporary classical album to receive one let alone the first album of black music to, but yall ain't ready for that) and pretty much the whole world fell for it

noname is the profound socially conscious pro black rapper the white hegemony SAY kendrick is/was
