I'm just posting this anyway cause I already typed it up. Y'all are gonna meme this but whatever.

I have this weird feeling about it. I'm a #1 Drake fan until the day I die, but I've looked up to Kendrick for his impact on the culture, his ability to raise awareness to black issues, and his appreciation for black women.

I grew up in a black community, and when Kendrick had started to become popular, I saw a real change in the demeanour of the men around me, like they finally had someone to look up to - speaking about issues that they didn't even know was an issue. It felt special, even to me. Hip-Hop has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember, and Kendrick was like a ray of hope.

He can continue to pick apart Drake all he wants for using weight loss pills, or having people that write for him, or that he has a gambling problem. These are things we've known, Drake has always been transparent about his character, his issues, all of the awful things about him and that he does. His unlikeable-ness is half of what makes his music likeable, ironically.

Kendrick has had this universal thought around him that he has this moral highground that we just believe in. But he's using this to essentially be anti-black to lightskin men, sidestep domestic abuse allegations, using black women as a prop and how Kendrick has defended rapists in the past, as well as defended white women over black women in the culture.

Drake went at Kendrick about his character, claiming Kendrick isn't the activist he claims to be, and if even the slightest thing Drake has said is true, the entire legacy he built his career on is questioned. What he said about Drake doesn't even matter at that point.

This is detrimental to Kendrick's character, because it becomes a persona and not a reflection of who he actually is.

And that feels weird to me. This person that I thought was an important milestone in hip-hop is a fraud? Hip-Hop is a part of who I am. I wanted to be a rapper since I was 6, I started making beats when I was 13. And the universe feels a little off-balance to me now.
