LMAOOOO, AK died on stream
Overall thoughts?
Honestly, it's one of my favorite Drake projects since NTWS. Some really pleasing, melodic production and the quality of the bars was higher than what we got from Views and the second half of Scorpion (first half had some really good writing).
The first half dragged a bit around Not You Too/Toosie Slide, but Deep Pockets is a great opener and When To Say When is a great throwback to the kind of production he might have gone over in the Comeback Season days.
Second half had more variety and I appreciated that. D4L had great chemistry between Drake and Future, Losses had a really pleasing, chill beat that reminded me of Do Not Disturb, one of my favorites from More Life. Demons had some sharp features that brought energy and War is just a straight up good Drake performance with a great beat (love the synth line) that puts the spotlight on him.
I'll definitely return to it. Think it strikes a good balance between the smooth, atmospheric side of Drake's music and the more aggressive, down-to-earth rapping he's been emphasizing more frequently on his loosies.
