ryuHStill LOVE this album and think it’s flawless on Drake’s part but I do have a few gripes with the engineering:
I want to hear them use a different Mic next time they do this sound
Sounds like they using a tube mic like they’ve been using for his rapping over the past couple years
Probably a Sony C800G
The added harmonics help his raps cut through the mix and makes his rap vocal sound larger than life but those same harmonics aren’t really flattering to his singing voice
Makes the top end of his vocal sound harsh and unpleasant at times, like a hissing tone
I would use something a bit more transparent without a tube
Also I’m pretty sure these aren’t 40s mixes, maybe Noel’s?
I miss 40 on the boards man, his atmospheric approach would sound great on a record like this
These vocals are a bit dry for this style of music
People blaming Drake for “bad vocals” but honestly I think it’s a technical issue on the tracking and mixing end
Been a valid gripe to me for the past few albums. Early career singing mixes compared to this is night n day.

I replaced it with the Keinemusik - Confusion (Drake Remix) track that was played on the HN radio premiere.
Crooks should have been a loosie it f***s the vibe up, but its also the song most people play or go back too so i guess it was worth it.
