Clutching at straws is an understatement. They hate Drizzy this much?

    Sadly they do

I personally think they have a stick up their asses because Drake won’t conform to the millennial Jay-Z archetype that was assigned to him

He’s not out to make the next blueprint or out here tryna out rap Kendrick/Cole for an entire album

He’s carving his own lane and doing his own thing with the sounds, genres, and artists he f***s with and while achieving mass success and dominating the charts

    It makes them sick

Also I think some of them still haven’t gotten over the fact that he’s a biracial, Jewish canadian, child-actor from degrassi turned rapper who took over hip-hop in the US and became bigger than everyone else for no other apparent reason than him being a cool ass dude who makes dope music that millennials love

CLB is good and had a lot of songs that were in my rotation. But HN is a perfect album. Sequenced like a champ, 53 minute run time, lot of catchy melodies and relatable lyrics. Best Drake project in years

  • The truth is it’s hard to build a connection with music that’s this closed off. Drake’s music has become increasingly impersonalized, like he’s slotting into a rotating shift of roles. Up to IYRTITL there was a sense that you could create some sort of sketch of his life in your head, but now the details are too purposefully vague and cloudy. This isn’t some plea for bars about fatherhood over house beats, but the details and imperfections of his lyrics once made him feel like a real person instead of just a moodboard. It’s as if the goal of Honestly, Nevermind is anonymity—inoffensively, sort of fun music that simmers in the background all summer and beyond. That’s the opposite of what the appeal of Drake’s music has been for nearly 15 years, where it was like he wholeheartedly believed the world revolved around his trust issues and breakups. Unfortunately, Drake is the rare pop star who sounds better when he doesn’t think about anyone but himself.

Pitchfork is really mad Drake doesn't wanna sing about his deepest and darkest secrets over easy breezy house beats?

They're really upset Drake made fun, light-hearted music. Christ

Spitting facts, brother. Couldn’t have said it any better.

When something goes against what you’re expecting, you’re going to want to push back (the critics).

Once he retires they’re going to go through his discog and give him the flowers he should’ve gotten while he was active.

Luckily for us we’ve appreciated his lane since jump.
