They were honest in their reviews of both clb and this. We have no reason to believe differently.

And i like this album, have no issue with the scoring i am just saying its funny seeing the same people s*** on these people a month ago now posting their reviews lol

Ahh yeah there’s maybe like one review I ever read that I was like

The “I don’t want to go” in Massive hits like.. a man at the end of his life.. especially life that Drake’s lived, the idea of eventuality having to let go of it. Was wondering if he was putting himself in Virgil’s shoes.. to let go at the peak, in such a tragic way. Anyway, I found the writing interesting.. if anything it’s truer to how Drake came in the game. This is drake, not the mafioso personality he’s concocted the past few years.. and honestly, you can’t blame people for thinking that’s NOT the act since it’s been running from IYRTITL .. almost easy to forget he came in the game on the disadvantaged end of the power dynamic that exists in love.. and I hear that a lot on this album.. and I feel like everyone also needs to realize there’s house music like Moodymann .. it’s not all SHM level sheen that the Weeknd dabbled in.. personally I prefer the dusty drummed version, it feels less perfect.. also feel like that’s part the mixing choices drakes been making.. it feels rougher around the edges.. and there’s something to be said about the restraint of choosing not to make things perfect.. it’s harder to do tbh because it takes that restraint 🤷‍♂️

I agree especially with the last part about the mixing choices and how that adds to the album imo…

Ik ppl hate the comparison but that’s one reason why I’d prefer this over Damn FM

Yea i was like wtf when i heard the chorus from the first time

Extremely depressing and existential writing from drake yet it’s packaged in such an accessible way. His genius right there

See I found why the weeknd hit more before he got on on was because he didn’t know how to write a pop song.. then when he learned he became TOO rigid .. which is part of that journey of learning to apply something.. so like BBTM and Starboy are soooo stiff structurally and DawnFM was, to me, the first peak at him stylistically breaking free of the rigidity.. like “learn the rules so you can break them” .. both Dawn FM and this album revived my interest in their respective careers.. like damn, now THIS is getting interesting

Another very s***, forgettable Drake album. Imagine my surprise.

This one might have CLB beat as one of the worst albums I’ve ever had the displeasure of listening to

Like this sounds good, but halfway thru feels like Swae just start rambling/singing in his verses. Not rambling in being coherent just more subject matter and feels like he just sings in circles.

    Classic song

But I feel like Falling Back is the only song really like that, most of the other songs are much more tightly structured

There definitely is reason to believe the reviews aren’t coming from a genuine place when it comes to Drake

The evidence is in the review itself

They talk about things they don’t like about his persona and who he is as a person, some are even prententious and audacious enough to go as far as attacking him as a man and suggesting he needs to “grow up” as if they have a right to judge how he chooses to live his life

None of those things have ANYTHING to do with the actual quality of the music and previous generations of critics were rarely if ever that disrespectful of an artist of his stature

Even with the 3 songs I skip this album still s***s on CLB

CLB has a few gems tho but as an overall package this is much better

To each their own. But for me his music has gone down the s***ter after scorpion.

Full credit to him though for trying something that isn’t in his wheelhouse

yeah reviewers don’t take music how it is, they know it’s drake so they want to spicy with it. Drake is a meme for people and reviewers to poke at, and since drake is so open with his vulnerability they do use that against him, I just think it’s unfair when reviewing a project

So, all the things you said now hasn't changed. He is the same person so why aren't they doing it now?

Most of clb reviews all say the same thing, he is making formula music and not experimenting enough. He then drops an album that doesn't sound like he was creating it for an espn sound track and they review it well.

Their opinion hasn't changed, his music did.

You right those things haven’t changed and the critics haven’t either

Drake just forced their hand with a REALLY good album so they have no choice but to give it a decent rating in order to save face

They still under scoring it like crazy

76 on metacritic would easily be 86 if it wasn’t Drake

Just like his 60 on CLB would be 70-75 if another rapper dropped that same album

You know what I realize is this nigga gets the most unwarranted hate and I never understand cause if someone like Ye released this he would get the upmost praise well hopefully Drake does get his flowers before it’s all said and done one day
