drake is very much a specific kind of profile

I’m of west african background and for me the way he mixes melodies with a percussion flow was something that was just common in the type of music i grew up hearing, and we here that when he explicitly dabbles in afrobeats or house or dancehall. That’s why he’s so popular in the black diaspora

People think drake is just a general flavor,
Like you very much need a specific flavor profile to really like him, and in my opinion a lot of white people dont have that (they usually only stan rappity rap drake, jack harlow types for example)

So it’s like this 35 bald white man that listened to metal his whole life has 0 of the tools needed to even appreciate a song like controlla yet he talks with so much confidence

At this point he knows exactly what his audience and the general public's opinion about artists is and he also knows exactly what he's supposed to say about them to get approval of his audience. If Kanye made exactly this album but with Kanye vocals he would have given it a good score, because he knows his audience loves Kanye. (This is not a dig at Ye btw). I don't really watch any videos of him but I dare to bet that not one of the comment sections of his videos disagree with anything he's saying, it is one massive circle jerk.

This album is "amazing" if you only listen to Drake and drake-esque artists. I'm sure their minds are blown hearing something that's isn't a 40 beat with Drake rapping his diary over it

Those records (ye is my favorite artist oat and i love kendrick) are so bloated and choppy with subpar verses and some really good highlights but ultimately a lot of flaws yet they get 8/10
