I'm not mad at it, I just don't find it interesting and it's not even about the actual music and honestly Drake has pillaged so many different regional scenes at this point. I mean there's a Canadian and British guy from Atlanta cosplaying Memphis on this album

Of course you don’t find it interesting because you were already aware of the genre’s history. But the average Drake fan / rap fan wasn’t, so it’s a good thing that an entire demographic / generation of people is being educated about the true roots of a genre that’s been claimed by white people in the past 20 years.
This will lead to more rap fans being more open minded towards diving deeper into the genres of house & dance music, assuming that they liked what they heard on this album

Yes but we were talking about the discourse around the actual album, not general music history. As far as talking about the record I haven't seen much.

Travis’s whole sound and aesthetic has always clearly been a product of Houston, in my opinion

Oh and also, Drake has roots in Memphis via spending entire summers their with his dad there while growing up, so I wouldn’t really call it “cosplaying” when he does the Memphis sound

one of his emotional tracks in a long time, the passion in his voice on the refrain "playing with my emotions." feels like he's bleeding through this damn
He’s a goofy doing a disservice to the culture
Can’t support that personally but do you
I never said I support him? I just found some parts funny, f*** me for having a laugh I guess lmao
