There are some similarities but I feel those similarities are there for most if not all drake projects.

I like fountains, champagne poetry, TSU, fair trade, love all, in the Bible, way2sexy, but CLB has no ambitious hunger from Drake compared to NWTS

Personally I love Falling Back and I’m fine with it effectively as the intro but the falsetto vocals off the bat and the lyrical repetition was easy meme fodder for haters unfortunately. I bet most of them fired off their tweets before it even got to the next track

I like it. Gives the listener a jolt when Falling Back comes in. I think someone told him to chop it off and make it a short intro instead of having the start of Falling Back be extra long.

The crazy thing about drakes signing is at its best it still needs autotune to lift it up. Hearing him sing live made me dislike that part of his artistry more

it was likely at the beginning of falling back, but they want falling back to hit immediately, so moved the falling back intro to the album intro

basically avoiding the mistake they made with giving TSU a minute long intro instead of splitting it

Disagree tbh. It is perfectly where it should be after the intro.

The thing that turns people off it initially IMO is that they’re so used to a certain Drake and his Drake-isms when he performs vocally. All the extra length notes, repetitions and different pitch is throwing people off because he’s going beyond his usual range for hip hop.

It almost turns you off at first, stinkface but in a bad way. Then it hits and you’re Shaq-sing-face.

I know you’ve probs already explained but if you don’t mind me asking, when did you come around to the album? Glad you’re enjoying it in any case. For me, the first listen of any Drake project is usually a tiny bit underwhelming (based on my own expectations etc) but I always grow to love, appreciate and understand on subsequent listens and this was no diff

Oh I totally agree with you. Artistically he made the right choice. I love the track. I was just lamenting the fact that people wrote off the album and cracked jokes on the first listen of Falling Back instead of sitting with it. I think the album may have been better received by casuals if he tweaked the tracklist but it’d be stupid to pander to people who don’t really care
