Banedrake is praised for "new sounds" but weeknd gets s***ted on for it
Dawn FM wasn’t enough of a deviation from his last album imo to really make that impact coming off the heels off how successful AH was
It was a great project tho. Also I think that while 80s revivalist sound is getting played out too

WESLEYS THEORYDrakes dabbled in the sound before, but this is literally a 14 track album with 13 house tracks and 85% of the album is deep cut material. It’s a complete deviation from what we’ve come to expect from Drake albums which is 20+ tracks with a lack of cohesion.
His past few albums have gotten so formulaic that this sounds like a breath of fresh air.

We don’t talk enough about how being the #1 hit maker is a massive burden to carry. Drake is almost 15 years into his mainstream career, he should NOT still be the biggest rapper out.
If someone else had that title, we’d have fairer expectations for a Drake project and more people would be accepting of stuff like this imo.
