TurkishI don't think Drake wanted to show his Toronto roots early in his career. He has said that he felt pressure to sound more American early in his career. But the UK and Toronto music scenes were not popping off like they are today back then. They started getting big around the mid 2010's and that's when Drake started showing love. But if you hear him speak he's always had a Toronto accent. That s*** didn't just magically appear out of nowhere. If you from Toronto or the GTA you can definitely tell Drake was raised in Toronto just based on his accent and the way he talks
I wasn’t talking about his Canadian accent lol I’ve been a fan of dude since Degrassi so I know what he sounded like back in 2001. The UK s*** literally started after IYRTITL and that’s what i’m referring to.

Freestyles are when someone turns on a beat and you just start rapping. It doesn’t matter if you have a verse memorized it’s still a freestyle. Idk why people think freestyles have to be off the top
S*** that’s off the top ain’t usually lyrically impressive cause it’s damn near impossible to come up with wordplay, entendres and metaphors while in the middle of rapping
The only one I’m still confused about is black thoughts 10 minute freestyle. Cause it’s 1 of 2 things. He either memorized a 10 minute long verse and didn’t miss a word rapping it or his brain works so f***ing fast that he was able to come up with wordplay on the spot. Either one is super impressive
