drake is my top two most listened on spotify. i just know his good music vs his s*** lol
do u not think listenability & replay-ability is an important component of good music?
being able to make good music but then filling the same album with songs that are s*** and just designed to get streams isn't impressive. just shows that hes handicapping his own albums
ok I will give you that one & agree that Drake recently has a habit of slapping additional tracks on his albums that really seem like the ones he would only put out as potential single bait but even those songs aren't really Trash to me, Just non essential. I think there's nothing wrong with making fun songs that could go off in the car, in the clubs, etc. But he doesn't need those singles on his albums if you ask me
You don't think When to say When was top tier?
not you too, deep pockets, and from florida with love are alot better than WTSW and those are just songs off of dldt alone
GWG = literally sounds just like Desires.
Get Along Better is weaker than any other R&B song he’s done back then. His best Ty collab is actually After Dark
Desires??? idk man i don't see it really being that similar
@HavenPB aye man I'm really curious I'm not tryna argue
I just wanna know, i'm not no drake super fan
outside of lemon pepper the last time drake rapped top tier was on sandras rose (top 3 drake)
I'm not a stan but I just seen this so I gotta quote cause im curious
I don't think I got examples like that but I like new Drake alot, he seems very comfortable in rapping and is not putting on a big boy voice like on 6 God that whole era and before
My favorite album is Nothing Was the Same so I don't know what I'm talking about
But when it comes to him RAPPING, I like the stuff 2017 and forward
When you mean old do you put those in old now?
Considering how 2017 is already 5 yrs ago
To me he just seems more comfortable when he rapping now kind of like Hov does where he just talking
His rap songs are good but I do feel like there’s less passion in his voice. He sounded hungrier on tracks from before. I’ve been a fan of Drake since 08 btw. I think after More Life, he’s kind of let outside influences determine how his projects will come out whereas before he locked in and shut out any that noise.
Granted there’s some moments of greatness (Race My Mind, N2Deep, Lemon Pepper, Chicago, Sticky, Flight’s Booked, etc) The projects just don’t hit anymore as a whole

dont think he shouldn't be able to make fun songs, just release them as singles tho instead of cluttering up ur albums with mid
drake could've dropped but instead we in here arguing about some bs

lmao he's probably the biggest artist in the world, how hungry could he possibly be?

yeah... his good songs are replay-able. dk where the idea that replayability = making the most boring cookie cutter uninspired music came from

I feel like he fights being hot versus making quality and the being hot thing always wins. It’s clearly evident in him rushing out this 21 project instead of letting HNVM breathe. That s*** must have f***ed with his ego heavy.
He’ll always have hot music but I just think he’s not a great artist anymore. It’s clearly working for him financially so it is what it is. Same problem Ye has too. I’ll play the songs I like but I’m tired of people on here saying he’s better than he was years ago cause it’s false.

y'all just making some crazy assumptions to justify your narrative at this point

That's my thing and where I differ
See I love this but I don't really like that era

The new drake, let's say, Champagne Poetry
It's nothing new right? He already did the intro on 2013 album which this is damn near 90% the same
But I feel like he rapping more comfortable now
There's not weird inflections, I can't really explain it
Maybe its preference at the end of the day
Stuff like Diplomatic Immunity, Do Not Disturb and those type songs from 2017 forward when you compare how his cadence sounds from that with songs from 2009-2013
It's different

You started listening to him after Views, shut up lol

he cares way too much about what his baseline listeners think rn. after scorpion he should have just started making music he wanted to make. he did that with hnvm which is why it was his best project since more life.

I guess that’s where we differ and I can respect it. I don’t like the monotone s*** at all like that a lot of the times. I think Race My Mind last verse is a perfect example of the voice and flow I love though

tbh i don't think he is. I see nothing wrong with his frequent drops, if anything it just shows that he's in a great creative space and feels compelled to make and release new music. We say this stuff now about 'oversaturation' but I'd rather have this than the alternative. Drake just turned 36. It probably won't be long before he gradually has less and less to do with music and he just steps away from the game. Why not try to enjoy the music he's making rn while we have it?

theres a reason why 90% of his best songs come from deep album cuts and not his top streamed songs.

HN literally had a drake 21 savage song that is basically a teaser for the next album lmao

Yeah I like that song alot but that feels like some old Drake
So this is where it's conflicting for me
I guess I like his new approach now that could summarize it
"drake was quaking in his boots at the reception for HN that's why he ran to 21" 🤓
