IYRTITL is a great tape but it’s not untouchable the way people make it. Drake talks about the fact it was only made in 6 weeks and you can tell.

He does much better rapping on so many other albums. People make the album untouchable because the Drake hate train wasn’t so ridiculous back then. If he dropped it today, the album would not be highly rated the same way. People would make fun of it for being too basic.

I laugh when Know Yourself is upheld as this god tier track. Bro is barely rapping on it, spends most of the song repeating a few bars and throws in some samples / beat switches to fill out the track. It is a nice fun track but people use it as an example of him at the top of his game lol.

He is rapping about the same stuff that haters critique him on today yet it was okay for that album. Listening to Iceman then IYRTITL shows how much better Drake has got at songmaking and developing his sound.

Fantano rated it highly so all the white online nerds love to overate it to s*** on other Drake albums. Just a weird phenomenon overall

I loved IYRTITL when it dropped but I'd be lying if I said I go back to it often. Something about the project is oddly low energy. Maybe its the way ghostwriters were used, maybe its moreso the production style on that one, maybe both. Her Loss is a better rap forward album from him for me.
