I feel you op i’m the same age, my parents african as well and my dad had a problem with my ear piercings. At the end of the day they’re going to get over it or I’m going to get over them

Bro, you don't realize that there's fragility being built within your parents relationship. There's no need for your parents to argue over our dumbasses. Seriously... Do your dirt when you're on your own fam
earrings are not disrespectful
especially if you're over 18 it's weird for parents to still police s*** you do that doesn't concern them in anyway, and lauding "sacrifices for you life" is such a played out guilt trip, immigrant or not
this is why more and more of these parents don't get talked to later on or get put in a home, but thats deeper than just piercings
All I’m saying is you over 18 living with your parents. Aside from the fact that you should probably have different priorities than getting your ears pierced (lol) they’re also doing you a favor not kicking your ass out
Getting piercings isn’t disrespectful. Defying your parents while they care for you is. It’s really not hard to understand
If you decide to put your parents in a retirement home because they didn’t let you pierce your ears, you’re a piece of s*** simple
If you don’t like your parents rule, move the f*** out! Can’t move? Then suck it up
I remember when I got pulled over in front of my parents house. 3 cops come out, one at the window, passenger window w a gun and the third behind me. My mom (God bless her, whom I don't have a solid relationship w/now bc I've been a jackass) with NO HESITATION came out and defended me. This is about 2 weeks after Mike Brown's murder. Protests were high in our city but that didn't stop her. Imagine if bc I'm on that bs and something happens to my mom.. Seriously.
Respect and count what u have as a blessing bro. Get your cake up, rent a house and develop some responsibility. Your parents love you more than u can imagine.
Appreciate the culture your parents have. Don't cause a division within their relationship. It's bigger than you. It's more than you. They both have a different style of raising you, don't cause an argument on some bs today that stems back to before you were born. Seriously man...
Maintain what your fam has and move on...
You get it
Can people in this thread stop equating op's parents to all black parents especially black Americans

I was racially profiled. Just a normal kid. Thanks for jumping to "their" same conclusion.
this thread feels like me explaining to my white friends how I can't simply tell my parents to f*** off lmao

Wtf are you talking about?
f***in crying at the thread title and update
🤣🤣🤣 how they made you take em out unless they physically removed them
Folks who come from African households might understand me here, but my parents really only see things one way.
Not so much my mom, but specifically my dad has always had a big problem with tattoos and piercings. I’ve been thinking about it for years and I’ve decided it’s my life and they can’t live it for me.
I should be allowed to do what I want with my body. It’s not like it’s gonna change who I am and I can always take them out if it seems unprofessional in certain settings. They’ll be pissed for a little but they will get over it. I’m 22 years old for crying out loud
OP gotta take his earrings out because his mom got caught f***ing wit some biker dude wit hella piercings and tattoos when they “took a break” in their 20’s lmao
Bro just keep wearing them and/or wear them when you leave the house/put em on in your car

sound like a whole lot of extra work for no reason
sound like a whole lot of extra work for no reason
I’m not gonna lie
It sounds silly but it can change your appearance along wit the facial hair lineup
30 seconds of car mirror effort but tbh op should just keep wearing them without even tryna hide it until his pop either ignores it or physically assaults him lmao and then go to the car s***
abide by your family rules as long as you're under their house. don't take on the customs of European society and disobey your parents. I have nothing against ear piercings but as long as you're living with your parents, honor their word. Keep in mind, we all reap what we sew. Your obedience to your parents will flow into your children. Ear rings are the least of your concerns if you live with your parents bro
What if OP doesn’t care if his kids get piercings lmao
If they off just for a few hours this weekend they won’t close right?
Wearing them around regardless and just letting a confrontation with a 50+ year old man reach its natural peak one good time is gonna be less stressful than doing ^ this
Lmao
F*** was I supposed to do? lmao they said I cant live here if I have them on.
Just keep wearing them and let them call the cops
If they actually call them this backfires tho 🤣
well mr. 22 year old stuck at his mama's crib, what'd you do?
only people I know who lived on their own at 22 aside from college apartments had babies or were strippers right after HS or something lol when did y’all move out
Yes he should generally respect his parents rules but y’all making living @ home at 22 sound like living @ home at 30 just because dude want some earrings 😂

I’m wearing mine right now and if I had to do that I’d just stop wearing them in geneeal

Side note OP where’d you get yours pierced? I just realized one of my holes have closed up due to not wearing them in a few weeks and the place I went before not doing them due to COVID. Asked a piercing shop their price niggas told me $70 for some s*** I didn’t pay more than $20 for the first time lmao
if u living in they house at 22 then they're aint s*** u can do. Gtfo and live on ur own if u want freedom. This is why i tell anyone to move out young because its important to grow

I grew up with both parents but they were distant and didnt like eachother. Didn't do any family dinners or really anything together. Never saw them show signs of affection either. When i left home at 18, my parents relationship collapsed. I don't feel bad because i had to stand on my own two feet and learn. I struggled but im very happy with how things turned out. Don't let your parents past toxic relationship tear you down and hold you back. You aren't responsible for it.

Claire’s bro. I’m just pissed cause I read that when they are fresh they close in 24 hours. Mf’s closed up in less than an hour
