JIK didn’t have any controversy
You must be forgetting the terrible rollout.

He ended up delaying the album by an entire month on a whim and poor Kim got devoured by his fans.
Terrible f***ing release. Atleast Ye came out the day he said it would.

JIK had too many conflicting factors for it to be a successful rollout.
For one, people were pissed about Yandhi and when the topic switched from new age conspiracy bars to religion, a lot of people immediately got upset. Then it was the mix of fans who listened to the leaks and didn't like the direction he took with some of the tracks. In addition, the rollout had listening parties and an IMAX movie and the album almost felt minuscule in comparison. A lot of build up that wasn't necessarily worth it tbh.
wait so this really coming out friday?
I really think so this time.
If it doesn’t at this point I’m used to it.

That’s because the music didn’t justify the wait or hype.

I mean, sure, I agree to an extent, but ultimately I'm saying that it would've been near impossible to match that hype. It was absurd. Some good stuff on JIK, but it had to be a full on masterpiece I think to survive all the eyes on the album at the time.

We just wanted a good album fam and we got mid

Tbh. And the mixing on it was f***ing horrendous.

JIK is good
But whether you think it's mid or not, that's fine, I get it, I'm saying that even if it was a great christian album, a lot of people were against the concept from the beginning. Just the facts.
I don’t really agree with that statement. Ye has had religious themes in his music before and some of it was wonderful. But it went from Ye getting introspective about his religion to him becoming a devout Christian trying to convert everyone. Way to preachy. The execution just wasn’t there.
