idk i think it does tbh
really just depends on how you interpret it
for one, a lot of the tracks have organs, and most of the tracks have the same drums (minus “off the grid” which i actually think would have been better as a one-off single like “all day”). so sonically it seems different at first, but a lot of similar elements are there
secondly, and it’ll be hard for me to explain cause i’m still trying to put my ideas into words, but….
Donda is almost like a concept album about him in some makeshift underground questionable church (kind of like the church in Saints Row 1 if you ever played that) trying to channel / summon the spirit of his mother
the intro track with Donda being repeated over and over in not by accident. there is a lot of talk about repetition in religion about how it can have healing powers, or manifest things you want to happen
the first few tracks which are harder and darker are like him summoning the Donda army - so basically, Donda is not only his mother, but his squad of protection (hence all the features)
the songs up until the Donda skit represent either dark or sinful themes for the most part, up until right before the skit where he comes to acceptance and repentance (24, remote control, hell, etc)
then during the Donda skit she finally is summoned (“it feels good to be home” / “i thank you for your support”)
and that’s when the album takes a smoother turn - mission completed.
even tell the vision kind of makes sense. it’s like a chaotic ascendence into heaven (“we made it”/“i thank god that we made it”)
This also what I began to realize last night
how big of a social outcast do you have to be to complain about getting too much music from your favorite artist?
YOUR personal least favorite song is probably someone else’s #1 favorite song, that’s how opinions work
it’s people like you who are to blame for artists giving us 7 song projects after being inactive for 3-5 years & expecting fans to be satisfied
In 2021 no reason to have an album over 15 tracks tbh
hey you accidentally wrote over when you clearly meant under
also, you realize the last 4 songs on Donda are remixes/bonus tracks, right op? or did you not actually listen to the album, just saw the tracklist & clocked out?
3 of the most iconic songs of the century (non-debatable) + deep cuts, but thats a diff discussion. Deny it all you want but the impact and cultural relevance of Scorpion is massive, to act like no one cares about it only shows how out of touch you are
Of the century
of the last 5 years yeah maybe and even that’s debatable
Donda is way 2 long. I've listened to it since it dropped and I can't bear it anymore. The songs also drag of forever. Imagine if he scaled the project back to 12-14 tracks. I started out loving the album and outside of a few tracks I won't be going back to it.

Haven't found a skip on Donda yet. Ratchet Happy Birthday should've been snuffed in infancy tho so I halfway agree
i mean donda is a double album too tbh. just end side 1 on 24 and side 2 on no child left behind. then the four "bonus" tracks (idk why ye keeps doing that s***, same thing on pablo)
Scorpion could never be a classic even with all fat trimmed
S*** is just weak
It'd be great as a 7 album

Ascribing a linear and narrative driven explanation to the sequencing seems very, very farfetched to me. I appreciate the effort though. You shouldn't have to "figure out" some deeper structure to the album. The structure should be obvious, even if complicated. This feels more like a grab bag than a synthesis to me. It's a very big body of work representing an even bigger body of work.
Yeezus kind of sidestepped how you do callbacks by just throwing Bound 2 on the end which was honestly smart. Juggling multiple Bound 2s is tough. The most consistent production is JIK style, but those songs don't even work together perfectly.
Honestly, it's a fools errand to "fix" an album that was never intended to fit together cleanly, but it's kind of fun and makes it more listenable. My version definitely holds my attention better.
I don’t mind Ye dropping a long project because of the respective lengths of JIK and Ye but it could have been trimmed down by about 20 minutes
remove the pt.2s (which you could say are basically bonus tracks) and job done

In My Feelings sparked one of the most viral challenges of the decade as well.

Numbers doesn’t mean it’s the most iconic
Do y’all not realize how corny you look with these stats and graphs
@op would be right IF donda had some corny no features gimmick
I think theres 22 solo drake songs on scorpion
Donda is still a good experience

only on ktt will people say Gods Plan, Nice For What, and In My Feelings aren't iconic
millions of tik toks made to In My Feelings and its played at every club in the world but its not iconic? prove it then
scorpion has abysmal tracks, only skippable on DONDA is Jonah & Tell the vision
Jonah one of the best hooks on there
