My area has a certain mix of people and naturally due to exposure I'm more comfortable talking with them due to shared experiences of location and at least a basic understanding of their diaspora upbringing.
When I was younger I was a little more attracted to them and I'd not really pursue other people because it was too out of my element. Now I'm okay with putting myself out there.
Maybe as I get older I might find I enjoy the company of those more similar to me, because it's just so much easier and safe, like @goddess mentioned you don't have to explain a load of nuances etc and that's okay

You are attracted to what you are attracted to, gay men are attracted to other men, lesbians are attracted to other women, some white men are attracted to black girls more than they are to white women, some Asian women are attracted to black men more than others. It’s the law of attraction. It’s got nothing to do with race other than that race possesses certain visual qualities for said individual than another might. It’s not racist at all, just like having a preference for hair or eye colour, tall short etc. However, if you are attracted to a woman due to racial stereotypes you want to exploit then yeah that’s racist. But that’s nothing to do with visual attraction.
